  1. Hi all, I am trying to find a recorded video of Wednesday's event in Paris. The recordings I'm finding all say "This video is private" when I try to watch them. Anyone know where I can see the event? I was not able to stream it live. :-(
  2. This is for the vinyl enthusiasts out there. As a huge fan of LZ and the Black Crowes, I love Live at the Greek. I have the TVT and Japanese CD versions, but there are two problems with the sound, IMO: 1) they're too hot; 2) there's a squealer on the CD's who absolutely ruins the listening experience whenever she appears. Why she was left so high in the mix, I can't imagine. Nonetheless, the vinyl completist in me just had to buy the LP's of this show. I'm happy to report that the squealer is largely backgrounded into the crowd noise, and the LP's are not hot. Unfortunately, the vinyl edition doesn't have the bonus songs found on the Japanese CD's, but it's worth it to have a good sounding recording of the show. Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I've searched the Forum and haven't found any mention of the superior sound quality of the LP's vs. the CD's.
  3. Madonna, John Mellencamp and Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and Robert Plant are among the nominees for the 2014 Songwriters Hall of Fame. They are joined by a number of top acts, including Ray Davies, Sade, Cyndi Lauper and Linda Perry. The Songwriters Hall of Fame gave The Associated Press a list of nominees in advance of the official announcement, set for Thursday. The gala will be held June 12 at the New York Marriott Marquis. Also nominated are Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson, Vince Gill, Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, Donovan, Cat Stevens and Harry Wayne Casey. Nonperforming songwriter nominees include "Midnight Train to Georgia" writer Jim Weatherly, Motown songwriter William "Mickey" Stevenson and country music songwriters Bobby Braddock and Bill Anderson. Mark James, the writer behind "Always on My Mind" — covered by Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson — is also nominated alongside Don Robertson, Graham Gouldman and Tony Macaulay. Writing duos Hugo & Luigi, Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell, and Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham will also compete. Eligible voters can select two nominees from the list of songwriter-performers and three nonperforming songwriters. Voting ends Dec. 16.   4. I was in a band called Superfuzz at the time - a 3 piece stoner/blues rock band from Southampton England. Our singer/guitarist Ed decided he'd try to educate us with some Rival Sons, and bought all three of us tickets to go up and see them at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, London for late 2012. An up and coming 3-piece called Pint-Sized Hero opened on the night with some aggressive, straight-edged pop/blues rock and seemed great with the large Sons crowd. The next band on was a 5, maybe 6 piece electro/psychadelic T-Rex style band named Odyssey or something like that... either way, they played an even better set; much more to my tastes. Finally the evening pushed forward to about 9:10pm and the lights started to dim around the large ballroom, and the voices began to simmer down gradually as it got darker. Me, Ed, and our bassist Tristan all motioned ourselves closer to the stage as we wanted to see these rockstars up close and personal... we wanted to feel in the presence of greatness, though we got more greatness than we expected! There was only one rail in use to bar off the stage and that was near where we were stood on the right side of the stage, facing out. To our left there was a backstage entrance/exit, which was barred off by some rails, which created a pathway to some stairs left of us as well, and these stairs led up to a tiny platform which we were stood right next to, so the backstage exit must have been no more than 8 or 9 feet from us at this point. Rival Sons finally made their entrance and instantly i could feel the presence and charisma of Jay Buchanan (Vocals) and Scott Holliday (Guitar). They all kicked off with Keep On Swinging off of their then newly released album Head Down. I remember distinctly throughout the first 20 minutes or so of their set that the backstage door was frequently being opened and closed, noticing their drum techs and unfamiliar faces looking out at the large crowd. Nothing prepared me for what happened about 40 minutes in though, as they began playing Jordan, the backstage door was opened vaguely, I couldn't help but be distracted by this door, and I felt like the only idiot in the room not paying attention to the awesomeness being produced from on stage, but then I suddenly saw two sort of large looking men in suits with stern looks on their faces walking out in single file and towards where we were stood next to the rail guarding off the backstage entrance. This is when people started to notice what was going. As the two guys got closer I could see multiple other heads bobbing up and down behind them, all following in single file down this narrowly created exit towards the small platform besides us. Apart from the two tall men I could see coming towards me, I could just about count three other heads behind them. The other two guys at the end seemed quite tall and built as well, but the head I could see sandwiched between the four men had grey hair, and this made extremely curious indeed. The grey hair also appeared to have a ponytail that I recognised. As they finally got close enough that they walked by me, I stood suddenly for a moment in shock, and for what felt like an entire life time, and as the awesomely loud rock segued into what seemed like low frequency ambience, and unbelievably my friends didn't notice, but the man I was staring at was none other than Jimmy Page! I tapped furiously on Ed's arm and screamed in his ear, "That's Jimmy PAGE!! It's JIMMY PAGE!!" pointing wildly at him as if I could be considered a threat at any moment to the legend himself. All three of us turned our heads slowly, 90 degrees to our left and gazed up slightly and there he was surrounded by his masculine entourage watching the Rival Sons gig with the gaze of a master overlooking his pupils, discerning of everything else, but the music he was seeing and hearing. Although this story most likely pales in comparison to a lot of other Jimmy Page stories on here, you'd have to consider that I was stood no less than maybe 3 feet from the man for the duration of about 20 minutes of Rival Son's set. And all 20 of those minutes I could not concentrate, and I kept looking over to check if what I was seeing was really real, or an illusion. Crazy thoughts and ideas came into my head, but nothing practical. One young girl was let through the rails to go up and get Jimmy Page's autograph, and I swear in that moment, I had a brief fleeting thought, "I could slap you and steal your autograph".

San Francisco), Stairway to Heaven, Moby Dick, Heartbreaker, Whole Lotta Love (incl. Let That Boy Boogie), The Ocean. When do the clips stop/end for the particular night? Meaning; July 27:1, 2, 3, 4, 5 / July 28: 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 / July 29: 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 in accurate order if what is listed isn't verbatim. -and- Is "The Ocean" really the last track? I was under the initial impression "Whole Lotta Love" was. However, after reviewing the 2007 Blu-Ray release extras, it seems to indeed cease with concluding bows and what not. After "WLL", Plant simply says, "New York, good night." and walks off nonchalantly. I'm under the dogma that Plant said that in the same clip as the Ocean, of which, only was decided to be used in the final cut of the film. What do you guys think?   8. Watching Celebration Day DVD - again.... I notice at the end of the Dazed and Confused violin bow section with Jimmy... The green laser light pyramid rotating around him stops, stays fully lit and in place as the eerie green geometric shape it is - high above Jimmy. Odd thing is Jimmy walks out of the pyramid at that point...normally he will wait until the laser pyramid has been shut down before continuing his solo! I believe there is great significance to him walking out of the still energized laser lights. If you look closely at the part of the video where he comes out and tosses his violin bow he does it with purpose and intention. Not an accident. Some may say he was pissed because of the problems with the lasers and effects at that point but look close and you will see him deliberately stepping out of the green pyramid and tossing his bow. He never had done this in all the Zeppelin years previously...he always waited until the lasers went out to move around the stage, and he never threw his bow. Very symbolic and significant of him to do this at that point. It does have clear meaning on certain levels of ritual attainment.

  12. All-female Led Zeppelin tribute band 'Lez Zeppelin' played at The Garage in Islington last night. Jimmy Page turned up to watch them play, and stuck around afterwards to meet some of the other bands there that night.
  13. Just spotted this in a scan of the magazine on eBay: A feature on Jimmy Page named 'What I've Learned' 'A whole lotta Jimmy Page' appears in the April 2013 issue of Esquire magazine. I'm not sure if this is to do with the John Varvatos campaign, an interview to promote something, a discussion of his clothes, or quite what it is, but I thought I'd post it here in case anyone wants to pick up the magazine.
