  2. Again, we all know that this was the precursor to the song Achilles Last Stand (my favorite BTW), but does anybody know when was the first time this was played live as a medley in Dazed and Confused. Did this song just form from an improvisation?
  3. Hello all, I'm new to this forum and thought I'd introduce myself, while also subjecting myself to endless criticism. My band "Elk Creek" performs "When the Levee Breaks" occasionally. Anyway just thought I'd share. The way we do it ends up being a little more Harmonica focused than Zeppelin's version.
  4. This is a very debatable topic, but I'd like to state my opinion anyways, I even have proof to back up my theory, but it's just my opinion, you could think whatever you want and I'm cool with it. I think that the tape didn't run out during Heartbreaker, but somewhere during here: Long Tall Sally During 2:38, the audio goes from a multitrack tape to a more distant audience-sounding-ish tape (it's most likely to come from the cameras), therefore I think the tape ran out during the performance of Long Tall Sally and not Heartbreaker, and this is also one of the few reasons this wasn't inc
  5. Hi fellow Zepheads. Another from my old personal video collection of Robert Plant and the Priory of Brion playing at Fairport Conventions Cropredy Festival back in 2000. Excuse the wobbly video but I think the band enjoy themselves on this one and I quite like what Kevyn Gammond plays on this ...and the way he leaps about! Anyway hope you enjoy it! http://youtu.be/0UMxlX7Yjg0
  6. Hi there fellow Zep fans. I was going through my old Hi8 video tapes and found this from 11th August 2000. Robert Plant (with the Priory of Brion) playing Hey Joe at Fairport Convention's Cropredy Festival, nr Banbury, UK. Just the one video angle from the crowd and a bit wobbly in places on the zoom ins and hasn't picked up the audio bass end brilliantly but it captures the live performance quite well I think and it was done with probably the best quality non pro camcorder of that time, Hi8, so visually not too bad - it's hopefully something Zep & Plant fans will enjoy so I'm dusting off
  7. The Golden God of rock and roll Robert Plant had and still does have one of rocks most powerful voices in rock but no one can sing like that forever so the point of this topic is to get all of your personal opnions on which year or years do you think Plants vocals were the best and worst? was it the early blues tinged five octave vocal range of 1969, the screaming out of this world vocals of 1970, the high pitched poweful uncompromising vocals of 1971, the banshee vocals of 1972, the lower inconsistent but still good vocals of 1973, the new post-surgery Raspy voice of 1975, the post flu tinged
  8. A buddy of mine called me today to tell me about a radio program scheduled for Sunday, June 2nd to preview the Reissues Release on Monday. I've been searching for details and the only thing I have so far is - it will be broadcast @ 10pm ET / 9pm Central on stations across the country. I also found one site referring to it as "Led Zeppelin Deluxe I-II-III with Jimmy Page and Robert Plant" @ In The Studio with Red Beard. Does anyone know anything about this or is anyone chatting about it on the forum??? Any details would be appreciated. If this topic is already going... my apologies and pleas
  9. I just read about a new pending lawsuit over Stairway to Heaven, and wanted to give my opinion. It's not the first time LZ has been sued, and probably won't be the last. Here's a link to the article at Businessweek. Note 1: I didn't proofread, edit, or spellcheck this. This is the web, FTLOG. Let the errors go. Note 2: This is one man's opinion. There's a detailed story in Businessweek about the latest copyright infringement lawsuit against Led Zeppelin, one of my favorite bands. I've read most of the biographies and sagas about LZ, plus I have all their music and videos. With that level
  10. Well, there have been many rumours and many people have said they've seen cameramen during the show. Are these rumours true? Hope so. This is Led Zeppelin's prime, plus they all looked awesome with the big beards, and Plant had a spectacular voice. I just want to myth-bust it, find out the truth.
  11. I assume everyone knows by now that Page is releasing three albums per year of remasters that also contain unheard cuts/mixes and some actual new songs that have been previously unreleased. Wondering if some of them will be worth buying? From the first three albums, the only one worth a purchase looks to be Led Zeppelin III, having most of all the songs in alternate mixes along with new songs. Led Zeppelin II has different versions and that one new song called "LaLa", which I was planning on just listening to on youtube once it comes out (I'm sure someone will upload it). Also wondering if
  12. The biggest disappointment with the '75 tour of the U.S. was paucity of material from the first three albums. Plan said the band would offer some color from the entire 6.5 year career of Zep and yet we barely get any songs from the first three albums. The first eight songs of every concert begin with tunes starting from Led Zep 4, back into PG, then back in 3 and basically stays there until WLL and the very end where if we're lucky we get HB or CB. This isn't retrospective at all. We got essentially nothing from Zep 1,2 and 3. Oh yeah, toss in the MB from Zep 2 but that's a drum solo, les
  13. <<< NAMM 2014 >>> With NAMM taking off, I thought this would be a great time to share your thoughts on new products from Marshall, Gibson, Fender,Orange, etc. as well as anything you found particularly interesting and / or cool. I'll start it off: New Gibson guitars 2014, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okxZghpmR8Y
  14. Ever though your LZ mp3's were best quality? Think again. ***This is NOT for everyone, only those who have the TIME, LP collections, and $$$. This is pretty complicated stuff only intended for audiophiles. If you said yes to the first question, this isn't for you. Just a kindly heads up*** Today I will show you the utmost of proper methods to obtain the absolute BEST, no-catch Led Zeppelin audio quality. Disclaimer: You will need some LP's (or a friend with some) in order to do this for the songs you want. If you aren't concerned with digital copies, plug your speaker/headphones into your
  15. Is there anywhere online where I can find the full Led Zeppelin August 4th Knebworth performance.
  16. I shall link you to this site which is infinitely ridiculous in my eyes: http://thegloaming.tripod.com/bonzo.html Now, sure, it's possible there are multiple Jones, multiple Plants....though absurd. And who knew Bonzo was still alive? Take this excerpt regarding JPJ: JOHN PAUL JONES "As all you who have watched The Song Remains The Same know, Zeppelin's bass guitarist, John Paul Jones, seems to be involved in some sort of weird fashion show---changing his clothes multiple times during various songs. The speculation is that this---in addition to the fact that his hair styles were al

  18. *****NOTE: I am new to this forum; I am NOT new to anything Led Zeppelin. Please, I ask you to ignore the first part of that sentence, and consider the second. Appreciated. ****** ***The Song Remains the Same Complete Re-EDIT On Way! *** [Note]: Individual evaluation only, not a means of piracy; this will NOT be distributed in any such way; again, my individual evaluations I've always preferred original TSRTS footage, be it a bootleg or 8mm. However, the actual viewing experience is rather limited by the subpar quality even terrible for 1970's cinematics. Honestly, the "film" portion
  19. As listed on LZ's website, this is the official setlist over the course of three nights: Rock and Roll, Celebration Day, (Bring It On Home intro) Black Dog, Over the Hills and Far Away, Misty Mountain Hop, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, The Song Remains the Same, Rain Song, Dazed and Confused (incl. San Francisco), Stairway to Heaven, Moby Dick, Heartbreaker, Whole Lotta Love (incl. Let That Boy Boogie), The Ocean. When do the clips stop/end for the particular night? Meaning; July 27:1, 2, 3, 4, 5 / July 28: 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 / July 29: 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 in accurate order if
  20. Page only told Plant the real meaning of his symbol, but so many rumors and suggestion have been posted; what about u? any idea?
  21. "Sometime during their last sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden in 1973, more than $200,000 was stolen from Led Zeppelin's safety deposit box at the Drake Hotel. The money has never been found. Til now." The rumors are true. "Fleecing Led Zeppelin" is coming. We're making a film inspired by one of the greatest rock n roll heists of all time. But we need your help to finish the movie. http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/fleecing-led-zeppelin/x/1629401 We've got 35 days to go to reach our goal. So, who wants to make a Led Zeppelin movie then? http://www.ind
  22. Came across this and put it on hold while I try to find out more about it. It's a 3 cd set of the May 23, 1975 Earls Court concert...title is "The Awesome Foursome". So far I've discovered it's based on an old vinyl set sourced from an audience tape. No label listed...only this catalogue #: CG 42-43-44. I generally prefer a good audience tape to soundboard(you can barely hear the harmonies on "Tangerine" on the sbd), and May 23 is one of the Earls Courts I don't have(May 18 is the other). Anybody have any pros or cons to offer regarding this set?
  23. Could anyone help me with this part? From 1:58:33 to 1:59:02 Thanks in advance.
  24. I have loved this band and its members for 40 plus years,it is looking as though I will never see Robert and of course never see the whole band as that cannot happen. I know they are the best ever and never will anyone surpass them,I am just so glad to be here with all you guys who know so much more than me
