  1. In memory of our football-loving sister-in-arms, I dedicate this thread to pottedplant. I also think it would be a nice gesture if all of us who participate in the pool pick Brett's beloved New Orleans Saints every week. I intend to do so, but I won't make it mandatory for the rest of you...it's only a suggestion. Here are the opening week's games with the latest Las Vegas Hilton point spreads. Week 1 Thursday, September 4 Green Bay Packers at Seattle Seahawks (-5.5) Sunday, September 7 New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons (-1) Minnesota Vikings at St. Louis Rams (-6.5) Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers (-6) Jacksonville Jaguars at Philadelphia Eagles (-11) Oakland Raiders at New York Jets (-5) Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens (-2.5) Buffalo Bills at Chicago Bears (-6) Washington Redskins at Houston Texans (-2.5) Tennessee Titans at Kansas City Chiefs (-5.5) New England Patriots (-4) at Miami Dolphins Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Bucs (pick 'em) San Francisco 49ers (-5) at Dallas Cowboys Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos (-7) Monday, September 8 New York Giants at Detroit Lions (-4) San Diego Chargers at Arizona Cardinals (-3) No rush to get your picks in...just get 'em in before the first game. Good luck.
  2. Here we go again guys! The 2018 NFL season is one week away and it is time to get the gears in motion for our annual football picking contest. Are you ready for some football?!? You know the drill...I post the upcoming week's schedule of games and you pick the team you think will win each game. No late picks. Once the game has started, it is too late to put your pick in for that game. Remember there are Thursday night games during the season. I had to chase down quite a few of you last year for your Thursday picks. Make sure you pick every game. Help each other...if you notice someone has missed a game let them know. I cannot be on here 24/7 checking everyone's picks so I may not catch your mistake in time. Good luck to all and as always, this is all in good fun and spirit. No fighting or trolling allowed. I haven't decided what this year's prize will be for the winner. Cannot wait to see what fanciful names jabe comes up with this season. Here are the winners of the last five years with that season's winning record: 2017: Bong-Man, the chase, Strider tied at 175-81 2016: Junior - 171-83-2 2015: apantherfrommd - 163-93 2014: jb126 - 177-78-1 2013: jb126 - 164-91 2018 NFL Season Week 1 Schedule THURSDAY SEPT. 6 TIME (ET) Atlanta @ Philadelphia 8:20 PM SUNDAY SEPT. 9 Buffalo @ Baltimore 1:00 PM Jacksonville @ NY Giants 1:00 PM Tampa Bay @ New Orleans 1:00 PM Houston @ New England 1:00 PM San Francisco @ Minnesota 1:00 PM Tennessee @ Miami 1:00 PM Cincinnati @ Indianapolis 1:00 PM Pittsburgh @ Chargers 4:05 PM Seattle @ Denver 4:25 PM Dallas @ Carolina 4:25 PM Washington @ Arizona 4:25 PM Chicago @ Green Bay 8:20 PM MONDAY SEPT. 10 NY Jets @ Detroit 7:10 PM L.A. 3. With the player movements and the draft coming up, it is time to put 2017 in the rear-view mirror and look ahead to the coming 2018 NFL season. The Cleveland Browns just made a big splash before the draft. Say goodbye to Tyrod Taylor, Rick. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/22706747/making-sense-2018-cleveland-browns-nfl-trades-tyrod-taylor-jarvis-landry
  4. Let's get this started. With news that Dwight Freeney will not return to the Colts and Charles Woodson will no longer be back witn the Packers, it is time to discuss the developing rosters for our favorite, hated and revered teams in he NFL. Here we go boys and girls!
  5. It's that time of year football fans! Preseason is finally over and Week 1 of the 2017 Regular Season begins next Thursday. We have been doing this for five years now, so everyone should know the drill by now. If any newcomers wish to join in the contest, please do...the more the merrier. No worries about the point spread. Just pick the team you think will win the game. Please remember to get your Thursday pick in before the Thursday game kicks off. All the other games for the week can wait until Saturday...Sunday morning before kickoff at the latest. Walter Junior was the Regular Season winner last year. Mrs. W won the Playoff Pool. Spread the word to your friends and neighbors. Let's get a good crowd of participants this year and let's have some fun! Of course, if your team signed Jay Cutler as QB, fun may be hard to come by. Best of luck to you all. Week 1 Thursday, Sept. 7 All Times E.S.T. Kansas City at New England 8:30 pm Sunday, Sept. 10 N.Y.
