saltypete
Saw this on CBC interview on an evening show called "The Hour" and in the interview with Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush, they both discuss their meetings with Robert and Jimmy, seperate and together. It is near the end of the interview but if you like Rush, the whole interview is enjoyable. http://www.cbc.ca/thehour/videos.html?id=941260432
Misty
what a great interview...thx for posting. i mean, what are the chances that geddy lee turns around in the hallway of a hotel in morroco to find robert plant accessing the room next door? rush has some amazing music....and i love the way both of them seemed so personable and down to earth in this interview. saltypete
now that I'm thinking about it, there was a Robert Plant sighting near Newcastle in New Brunswick at a summer fair a couple years ago, but have little more than that...but if someone else has ever heard this? It would be interesting......this is a place where the famous can survive in peace.
Aquamarine
The Robert/Jimmy ref is at about 7.30. That was a nice interview--they both seem like great guys.

ro_a
Jimmy cited Rush as a personal favorite whilst doing promo work for Coda. That was when Rush could do no wrong. I saw them in 2004, and even getting taking into police custody (for no reason) couldn't ruin a monumental, professional, and fun show.

Hi Aqua, Yes, very nice interview from two of the nicest, most unpretentious people in music today, always been a favourite band of mine. Jahfin
Wow, I'm so impressed by how humorous and down-to-earth they are. Rush have a tremendous sense of humor. Janet
Love their music but could never get used to Lee's voice. It's like fingernails on a blackboard for me.
kirchzep27
i watched this the other day, good interview. i liked the fast paced intro piece and an interview with good questions, allowed for a down to earth interview with humor. cool recollection of them being at the page/plant 98show as well. thanks for posting that. cabal200
Love their music but could never get used to Lee's voice. It's like fingernails on a blackboard for me. If memory serves, I believe I remember hearing/reading that one early review of an album (maybe their debut) described Geddy's voice as a cross between Robert Plant and Donald Duck. Imagine Donald Duck singing something about "every inch of my love" with no pants on... oh the scandals!
kirchzep27
I think the early comparisons of geddy sounding like plant on acid or whatever...where kind of stupid in a way, cause -rush were so cool anyway. they really didnt need catchy comparisons from rock writers, they were an original sounding band. plus geddys vocals were so much less over the top as records went on. timothy5151
Love their music but could never get used to Lee's voice. It's like fingernails on a blackboard for me. I have to agree with you on this. There's is just something about his singing that I really don't like. I just can't get past it enough to appreciate the rest of the music.
Tea41
I have to agree with you on this. There's is just something about his singing that I really don't like. I just can't get past it enough to appreciate the rest of the music. Actually for me it's the opposite, there's something about Geddy Lee's singing that I REALLY like, it's powerful, it's unique, it's emotive, it's precise, it's incredibly musical, it's honest, it's wisdomous. Listen to Rush's "Subdivisions", Losing It", "Analog Kid", "Entre Nous", "Red Barchetta", or "Between The Wheels", absolutely incredible and second only to Zeppelin. Geddy's actually my second favorite singer next to Robert Plant, Rush is an addiction, they and Geddy have so much range. It's an acquired taste I suppose, but once you get it, you GET IT. And you are hooked for good. Without Geddy's vocals, there is no Rush. They are perfect as they are, total chemistry between Lee, Lifeson, and Peart. TOTAL. Geddy kicks so much ass on vocals on "Tom Sawyer" it's not even funny. I never get sick of Tom Sawyer, it's a 4 minute masterpiece that is precise, powerful, and original beyond comprehension. I play it note for note on drums and guitar, can't get enough. Even Rush's lyrics, all written by drumming master Neil Peart are insanely artistic, original, evocative, precise, and worldly. Rush's song "Tai Shan" actually feels and sounds just like you are at that famous mountain in China, it is brilliant IMO. To each his own. Don't ever miss Rush when they come to your town, you will not believe how good they are. See for yourself, you will thank me later!

Knebby
Opposite for me - I used to listen to them a lot and saw them numerous times in the late 70s & early 80s - and I mean more than 20 times. Just can't listen to them now - his voice is just too much for me. I do think they are great guys tho, apart from Peart who I never liked - unless he has had a personality overhaul in the last few years like Paul Rodgers, who went from being "the most hated man in rock" to a pretty nice guy. Hi Knebby I think Mr Peart lost his wife to cancer and his daughter in a car accident in the late 90s, we are lucky to have ever seen him back on the road or in the studio again in my opinion. Whats your beef with him? Regards, Danny

I'm sure fans are very lucky to have him back - I made no comment about his abilities either. KB

KB Sorry Knebby, But wind you neck in, i wasnt having a go at you, you said, "unless he has had a personality overhaul in the last few years" and under the circumstances i think that is very unlikely, dont you? If you place your opinions of people on here its gonna provoke a reaction, i'm only asking, for you not to like someone is very rare and to openly say so is as rear as rocking horse shit, so you gonna tell us whats up or not?
