Bong-Man Posted October 5, 2009 Author Posted October 5, 2009 Please Minnesota....take us out of our misery. I've never been so disgusted to be a Tiger fan. Can't hit can't catch...what do you do ? Choke on tequila I guess. http://www.detnews.com/article/20091005/SPORTS0104/910050376/Police--Drunk-Cabrera-picked-up--released-after-911-call-from-home Quote
TypeO Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 No, I haven't been a regular participant in this thread. Apologies. But baseball is my favorite of the major sports. And I haven't been following my beloved Braves as I once did. But as the post-season drew near, and I saw the awesome run they made to draw within 2 games of the wild card, I was hopeful. In the blink of an eye, it was done. Went out with a whimper. Please excuse this small amount of moping, but at least this is thread for it. You may now return to the excitement that is October for those fans who still have something to be excited about. /pity party Quote
ledzepfvr Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I'm a California girl so I will be cheering for the Angels in the ALDS. My husband is from Boston area and the Sox are his team. Should make it interesting around here for a few days to see who wins. By the way I am definately NOT a Dodger fan even though they are also a CA team. Tommy LaSorda was a royal A-hole when he managed that team and now Manny is on the team and he is too full of himself (was that way when he was on the Red Sox too) Quote
ebk Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Let's hear it for the end of the Rockies season!!!!! Quote

ledzepfvr Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 I am becomming bummed that the Angels lost 2 in a row in the ALCS against the Yankees. Hopefully they can regroup in this travel day and start winning on their home turf. If they keep making those errors they won't make it. It's not over yet. Go Angels! Quote

Doing good. The Dodgers are one game a piece with the Phillies. They play today. I'm not a Dodgers fan, so I will be rooting for the Phillies. Edited October 18, 2009 by ledzepfvr Quote

Electrophile Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 I never thought that game was going to end. My ass was numb from sitting on the floor in the basement so that the TV wouldn't wake up anyone else. Thank God we won, though. Losing that game and heading into Anaheim 1-1 instead of 2-0 would have been a killer. Quote

I had a hard time staying awake and I was on the west coast. Next time, might I suggest a pillow for your backside Quote

bigstickbonzo Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 The officiating has been absolutely dreadful in both series. Between strikezones that change with every batter, to missed calls left and right..it's absolutely pathetic. It's pretty obvious Selig & Co. want Torre vs Yanks. I've switched on tonight's game only twice and both times I couldn't believe what I saw. First was the botched call at 2nd. The tag was clearly applied to (Yankee) while his hand was still over a foot from the base and he was called safe. But it's ok, because the Umps blew another one moments later in calling (Yankee) out for leaving the base before the ball was caught in centerfield. Then that whole ordeal with Posada/Cano at 3rd. How do you mess that up? Michael Wilbon, my boy, was the first person to stick up for the Phillies today, referring to them as "The Champs." Thanks for reminding everyone else..outside of Philly. Electrophile Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 It's pretty obvious Selig & Co. want Torre vs Yanks. HAHAHA. This is my all-time favorite argument. When umps screw up, it must be because the league favors the Yankees. That's a good one. Quote
redrum Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 As an old Giants fan I never want to see the Dodgers win. I was ready to blow my brains out with that 5 hour Angels/Yankees game. Sheesh!! Quote

It's clearly obvious they're still fuming still from last season. Phils-Rays World Series was the lowest viewed series in almost 2 decades. Not to mention, other than local sports commentators in this area, I've only heard the Phillies referred to as "Defending World Champs" 3 times since October began. That's a big slap in the face to a team who is poised to repeat. Quote

That's a big slap in the face to a team who is poised to repeat. Ummm, the Yankees didn't make the playoffs last season. During the off-season, they signed the 3 biggest free agents on the market. They won 103 games in the regular season and are one win away from going to the World Series. This is arguably the best Yankees team since 1999 or 2000. So yeah, the media are going to talk about the Yankees. Just like they would if it was some other team living out our season right now. That does not mean the league favors us, the umps are conspiring to screw our opposition over, there's a fix in, someone is getting paid off.....it's all a bunch of a paranoid bullshit. "Clearly obvious" my left ass cheek. I watch MLB Network every damn day and they're always talking about the Phillies and how they're the defending champs, that if they repeat they'd be the first team to do so in a decade, they're always running promos about them....your team is hardly ignored, dear. If you're not hearing/seeing that, you're not paying enough attention. Quote
ledzepfvr Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Oh Yeah!!! The Angels are still in the game as they won tonight. They better step it up if they are going to beat the Yankees in NY. Quote
Electrophile Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 I'm actually very happy the Yankees lost tonight. Better to clinch in front of fans that don't need a monkey to get excited. Quote

Hi Electrophile....It will be easier for Yankees on home field. If the Angels keep making those errors and don't light up those bats you may end up being a happy camper. The monkey is sacred to the Angels fans. Quote

We have the league's best home record and CC is pitching Game 7 on regular rest so if it has to go that far, and it better not, I would feel comfortable. That said, I don't like gimmicks. Quote
