ms_zeppelin94
This, ladies & gentlemen, is what Black Dog is really about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_dog_(ghost) "Eyes that shine burnin red - dreams of you all through my head!" Oh, and it goes right along with Jimmy's "occult obsession"
lzfan715
I got these lyrics from the internet so I don't know how spot on they are but I think they are good enough. Hey, hey, mama, said the way you move, gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove. Oh, oh, child, way you shake that thing, gonna make you burn, gonna make you sting. Hey, hey, baby, when you walk that way, watch your honey drip, can't keep away. I think this lyric set is directed at a women. [Chorus] Ah yeah, ah yeah, ah, ah, ah. Ah yeah, ah yeah, ah, ah, ah. I gotta roll, can't stand still, got a flame in my heart, can't get my fill. Eyes that shine burning red, dreams of you all through my head. I think he means that he wants to be with her and moving around a lot. Red also represents livleyness and excitement and passion. I think he is saying that he's stuck on her and can't get her off his mind. Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah. Hey, baby, oh, baby, pretty baby, Tell me won't you you do me now. Didn't take too long 'fore I found out, what people mean my down and out. Spent my money, took my car, started telling her friends she wants to be a star. I don't know but I been told, a big-legged woman ain't got no soul. Basically, she screwed him over. Poor Robert, maybe he'd like my company. [Chorus] All I ask for when I pray, steady rollin' woman gonna come my way. Need a woman gonna hold my hand, won't tell me no lies, make me a happy man. When he prays he want a nice chick. This stuff is all my opinion but to me it fits better.
lzfan715
I also wanted to add that the song was named for a black dog that was hanging out around the studio.
ms_zeppelin94
I like your analysis, but the post was in jest of everyone fighting over the name, how they chose the name, is that supposed to sound like a dog at the beginning, etc. I found the Black Dog in my little cousins monster book and got a kick out of it. Aquamarine
People are fighting over the song's name and how they chose it? I thought this was pretty well-known-- I also wanted to add that the song was named for a black dog that was hanging out around the studio. ninelives
People are fighting over the song's name and how they chose it? I thought this was pretty well-known-- That's what I've always read to be the story behind the song title.
