Gene & Paul do understand in order for it to work the members of the "next generations" of Kiss will need to be as equally charismatic and determined as the original lineup. Gene's position on Peter & Ace has been how many chances should you get in one lifetime for a once in a lifetime opportunity? As far as Gene's concerned they've each had no less than three chances to be a part of Kiss and it's fallen apart each time. Aside from that, I think Gene realizes a reunion performance will detract from the current lineup which at the end of the day is the lineup they want/need the public to identify with as much as possible in the event they want to continue touring. Finally, Gene doesn't need Peter & Ace bad-mouthing him in the global press over this. By saying "no performance by any of us" he takes most of their inflammatory ammunition away. Walter Posted February 25, 2014 Share Posted February 25, 2014 I understand what you're saying SAJ - but to keep the public identifying with the current band (over the one that is being inducted, which is the original 4) is in fact a ploy to keep selling tickets and continue making a profit. So that explanation by Gene is exactly what I was referring to, it all comes down to money for Gene. One performance to honor the 4 members who are being inducted under the band name KISS is not gonna hurt their current line-up's ability to sell tickets. This is part of the reason they haven't been put in before now, people view them as a hyped up business that makes music - IMO. I hope that Ace and Peter go on stage without the rest of them and rock out with whomever else is there to honor the bands going in this year. His actions during the interview with Tom Snyder should have got him booted from the band the next day. Apparently they were the only band who didn't go over their allotment of time with their speeches and were cordial with one another. Congratulations on receiving their induction. It still is strange to me that a band whose image and stardom was really based as a live act, didn't even play live when they were FINALLY honored as one of the "greats"..... I really hope I get a chance to meet him tomorrow (Wednesday) in Phoenix, I won tickets to a catered pre-concert party, Kiss are not scheduled to be at the pre-party, but they very well could pop up unannounced to the pre-party I am hoping! I finally got a chance to watch the HoF thing after a friend dropped off a dvd of the show. Most memorable part of the Kiss induction for me was Tom Morello's introduction. That was totally fun and energetic and awesome...and I don't even like Kiss. Yet, I had to feel for the fans that Kiss didn't even perform...how anti-climactic for those fans. According to USAToday.com, the "Kiss Rocks Vegas" dates are: Nov. 5 Nov. 7 Nov. 8 Nov. 12 Nov. 14 Nov. 15 Nov. 19 Nov. 22 Nov. 23 Tickets for "Kiss Rocks Vegas" will start at $49.50 and go on sale Friday at AXS.com. Each performance will seat about 3,200. "Whatever you're used to with Kiss, this will pump it up that much more," Kiss guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley tells USAToday.com. "If Kiss is on steroids, this is a double dose." "Usually, going into a smaller venue means eliminating things," Stanley says. "The great thing about going into The Joint, it gives us the opportunity to add. Much in the same way as a Broadway show, when you have a permanent installation, you're not breaking down every night to travel. So we can do things we wouldn't normally do." Those who write songs about "Americana" get in...Bruce Springsteen never meant anything to me, neither did Bob Dylan and I think it's a joke how Bono from U2 is always pontificating about America this and America that. Kiss getting in from my point of view was really about the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame trying to quiet certain segments of the press who were reporting on the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in a negative light. Maybe April Wine and Def Leppard speak more to you, but Bob Dylan spoke to a generation and Sprinsteen spoke to an entire heavily populated region. To each his own...after all "it's only rock n roll, but I like it!". KISS just drew about 20,000 recently in Tampa, Florida. Not bad after 40+ years of touring!
