a clockwork tangerine Posted May 30, 2009 Share Posted May 30, 2009 Wow, this is so difficult for me. There are so many films I love. I tried to do a top ten list once but it added up to twenty!! Okay here's some I love: 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) -- This is the kind of film you either love or hate. The first time I saw it I fell asleep on it! Then I rewatched it and read the novel and watched the sequel and I loved it. I really appreciate Stanley Kubrick's direction and special effects. I think the special effects are even better than the computerized effects that are used today. Rebecca (1940) -- I love all Hitchcock films, but I think this is my favorite. Lawrence of Arabia (1962) -- The cinematography is breathtaking!! A Clockwork Orange (1971) (hence, my user name!) -- Another Stanley Kubrick film that is completely amazing. I love his direction and camera work. Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975) -- Probably the funniest movie I've ever seen! It makes me every time I watch it! Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) -- Probably my favorite Stephen Speilberg movie. Top Hat (1935) -- I was raised on musicals, and I love Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. And Yours...? How's it going "Jimmy's A Legend?" WOW! There's a few movies that I like so I really have to think about this one. I'm going to list my Top 5 movies and my Top 5 music movies and are as follows: TOP 5 MOVIES (1.) Scarface (2.) Goodfellas (3.) Casino (4.) Blow (5.) Once Upon A Time In America TOP 5 MUSIC MOVIES (1.) The Beatles Anthology (2.) Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones (3.) The Last Waltz - The Band (4.) Both Live Aid Concerts (5.) Live At Woodstock - Jimi Hendrix There's a hell of a lot more movies I would have loved to put on the list but you can't have it all can you? I'll list some more movies that are worthy of being very close honorable mentions in the near future. I feel confident that many of you out there have some favorite movies and I am looking forward to reading your favorites soon. In the mean time, ROCK ON! I mean, the whole "Are androids human?" thing has been done to death and done better in my opinion. Fistfull of Dollars has the same stunning cinematography but I guess it just connects with me more. There are many instances where books aren't given justice by the film from which it was based but in this case the movie did equal justice to the book as well as the soundtrack. Braveheart (1995) - Mel Gibson did an outstanding job in his role as William Wallace. The scene towards the end when William Wallace (Mel Gibson) is being tortured and yells, Freedom! just gets me everytime, so powerful. 300 (2007) - What can I say but one heck of a kick ass movie. Dumb and Dumber (1994) - A favorite comedy of mine that includes one my favorite comedy actors, Jim Carrey. La Bamba (1987) - Just a great movie.
