Zepaholic
It must be true. Just like Jimmy is of Chinese origin, that's true as well. Quick, somebody send a script to Oliver Stone. He just loves a good conspiracy.
ZeppFanForever
http://www.theweek.com/article/index/97168...endrix_murdered How's it going "Wolfman?" I have stressed my opinion and views on the other JIMI HENDRIX Thread! However, I am curious as to how Jimi's half sister Janie Hendrix feels about these new alligations. ROCK ON! I'd go here for more proof that he is not in any way Chinese. http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?showtopic=8870

Aquamarine
The post quoted was clearly written with tongue very firmly in cheek - hence the smiley. But this IS an example of the strange reaction to this unfounded rumor, namely to deny hotly that he could possibly be of Chinese descent, as if there would be something horribly wrong with it if he were. This is what has always baffled me.
longdistancewinner
But this IS an example of the strange reaction to this unfounded rumor, namely to deny hotly that he could possibly be of Chinese descent, as if there would be something horribly wrong with it if he were. This is what has always baffled me. It is worrying. The way I see it - the way I've always seen it - is that once it became apparent that the rumour in question was established to be false, it was always going to be refuted fiercly every time it resurfaced. It's denied by posters so vehemently, not because they're xenophobic, but because the rumour has been done to death. A lot of the newer posters, therefore, think that that is the only way to refute the rumour - to be so overzealous in their answer that it does sound, well, xenophobic. It's a rumour that doesn't have much foundation in it, and to the more 'knowledgeable' fan it is frustrating, but it definately wouldn't be the end of the world if it were to be true. And Chasing the Dragon would have a different meaning for him I suppose. Also, and think long and hard about this, would "Four Sticks" have been called "Chop Sticks"? And maybe the "Wanton Song" would be called the "Canton Song" As i've said many times before, he is Part(ial to a)Thai, now let that be the end of it. Aquamarine
Thank you Danny and goodnight! Well, I certainly hope you're right, ldw, that it is just frustration with a rumor that's been done to death, and not xenophobia. (Though it still worries me a bit, since it seems to have always been this way. ) And glicine--not that I speak fluent Chinese or anything (*ahem*), but I thought those were spelled wonton? Or doesn't it matter?
Knebby
Big LOL at the first question. And no need to change the "wanton song". Wanton: some delicious chinese food. Well yeah you'ld have to change the spelling as it is "Won-ton" - but I get the drift.

Wanton, Wonton, Wantan,I've seen it spelled in several different ways. The word is actually from Cantonese, if you want to pronounce it in standard mandarin it will be totally different.
