Eternal Light, you've made your point okay? Thailand's dangerous okay. Enough travel guide advice already. Start a dangers of travel thread or something. Then I won't have to read it.

This is about David Carradine, a man whose family I am close to.

It wasn't a random attack by local thugs fleecing tourists.

So can you just let it go please?

No such luck Ev, sadly.

Thailand

I don't think you got my point..

OT again, I was watching Death Race 2000 yesterday, Carradine was cool in that movie! His death sure is a great loss for the movie industry. R.I.P.

I am sure that advice applies to many other places as well.

But in any case, rest in peace.

And yes, it is very sad.

Yeah, evidently some people are less interested or sympathetic regarding the tragic death of David Carradine than they are planning where to or not to plan their holiday. So I'll leave it to them.

However I would recommend changing the thread title to say, Dangers of Overseas Travel or Irrational Fears and Government Controlled Media.

or even Bangkok: Friend or Foe

It is tragic.

At first, I thought it might have been murder, because I did not believe he would take his life.

I thought well, maybe he "ordered up an escort" widely available (and at any age) in Thailand, and it turned sour.

But after hearing from two of his ex's it was plainly clear it was an accident.

I've heard great things about "dental vacations" in Thailand where you can get great dental work that pays for itself with the trip.

I saw the tabloids pics of him. They didn't show his head or genitals. What gawd awful taste to print that!

Just curious Ev, which numbered wife was your ex related to?

You don't have to say if you're uncomfortable.

The wife, Gail..was so open talking about it.

I thought he was a fantastic actor.

RIP

Hi Ev,

Sorry for my last comment and post on this tragic news, the trouble is that someone always hijacks a thread and then we just seem to carry on answering their questions, again sorry for any distress to you and yours.

My Kindest Regards, Danny

You couldn't pay me to go to one of those country's. You leave the good old USA and you are no longer safe and you have no power. You cant carry a weapon to defend yourself. Fuck that. I would never go there. Or Mexico either.

Um, dude, have you ever been to Harlem (NY)? Compton (LA)? Englewood (Chicago)?

Let's see how long you'd last waving your piece around in one of those places!

The USA has the fifth highest amount of TOTAL murders in the world (behind India, Russia, Colombia and South Africa). Safe, eh?

But to be fair: Statistics can be used to prove anything, so if you judge the USA using per capita (i.e., murders per 1,000 citizens) the United States is only 24th; Thailand 14th.

Don't listen to media outlets like Fox News who feed you B.S. about the world outside the U.S. borders. Get outside the ring of their propaganda and you might find that there are many parts of the world with friendly, loving, laid-back people who are much cooler and less stressed than what you may be used to.

I as well hope the death of David Carradine is resolved and my deepest sympathy to his extended family and friends.

I second that. RIP, David. The scene in Kill Bill (the one where he plays a fluit and tells a story to the Bride) was so serene, and the Film's ending is sad. It's like, you know, you wish for a miracle to happen with reconciliation and a different ending.
