I saw these two at MSG last year and last night was even better since I was much closer to the stage this time. Lots of energy and again, my two fave songs were "Forever Man" and "Can't Find My Way Home." Tickets are pricey but this a show not to be missed.

Thanks for the review!

I am going to see them Monday at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus. I can't wait!

I bet that Eric's American family (his wife's side and his daughters) will be at this concert, as his wife is from Columbus and Eric has a home in Columbus!

Edited to say:

I contacted the arena and they said that cameras are allowed at this event, so I will take photos and post them here.

The Clapton/Winwood concert on Monday June 15 at the Schottenstein Center was fantastic! Musically speaking, it was the best concert that I have ever been to. These two musicians playing together was synergistic. The result of the combo of these two was greater than the sum of the two parts, if you know what I mean. Better than either would be alone without the other.

Eric's playing was beyond perfection. My favorite was Little Wing. After Midnight and Forever Man were outstanding, also. The acoustic Layla was refreshing.

Steve's guitar playing was smokin hot. He not only kept up with Eric, he stood out in a few instances. His vocals were mesmerizing, particularly in Georgia on my Mind and Dear Mr. Fantasty. I also loved

The keyboard player, Chris Stainton really jammed on the piano during a long solo on Cocaine, giving the song a new twist on Eric's classic. Wonderful!

The drummer, Abe Laboriel, really wailed on his drums, great fills and bass drum sound.

When Eric sat down for the acoustic set which started with his Driftin', he said "I'd like to say hello to my family, all 100,000 of you here". That was about all the banter he had with the audience. Steve said "It is great to be playing here with Eric, and I'd like to thank him for this opportunity". The songs flowed flawlessly from one into another. It was a great set list. If I could ask for two more songs, it would be for Wonderful Tonight and Crossroads, but alas, my wish was denied. Here is the set list from Columbus.

01. Had To Cry Today

02. Low Down

03. After Midnight

04. Presence of The Lord

05. Sleeping in The Ground

06. Glad

07. Well Alright

08. Tough Luck Blues

09. Pearly Queen

10. There's A River

11. Little Wing

12. Forever Man

13. Georgia on My Mind

14. Driftin' - acoustic

15. How Long Blues

16. Layla - acoustic

17. Can't Find My Way Home

18. Split Decision

19. Voodoo Chile

20. Cocaine

Encore:

21. Dear Mr. Fantasy

Not much visually to look at on stage. Just the band, back up singers, and a few lights and speakers. But it was musically sensational.

Here are a few photo's that I took.

I had video recorded the concert, and on the third to last song, Voodoo Chile, I was busted and made to erase the entire video that I took of the concert. I think that someone near me reported me to the security people because they were jealous that I had this great concert on video. Hundreds of people were video recording the concert, but I had to be the one caught doing it. And I wasn't obvious about it either, the only way that security knew that I was doing it was if they had been told about it as they came looking for me. I feel a sense a loss, like I lost something personal by having to erase my efforts, as I feel that I was a great videographer and got some good shots.

Great Concert.

Hope you all can make it to see them. A once in a lifetime opportunity to see these two master musicians.

Note: I posted Youtube links to their other concerts from this month as I don't see any posted from Columbus yet. Maybe everyone there got busted for video recording like I did, lol.

Hehe, Steve and Eric had the same clothes on in Denver too. Caught the show last night, it was killer. Loved every minute of it and I must say Eric Clapton is on freakin' fire, great tone and unparalled chops. I've seen him before but he is playing at a very high level right now, honestly I think he's playing better than he ever has including his God and Cream days. Fave tunes of the show were After Midnight, Forever Man and Voodoo Chile.

I just saw them on sunday night in Denver and it was pretty much the same setlist. Great concert and my only complaint was it could have been a little louder but the crowd demographic was 40-55 year olds. I also didn't realize Winwood was such a badass guitar player. He and eric shared solos during the cocaine/ dear Mr. Fantasy encore. It was surely worth the 100 bucks for the ticket.

I am one of those 40-55 yr olds and it was plenty loud for me. I don't think it has anything to do with age, that's about as loud as any show gets at the Pepsi Center. I think theater and small venue shows are louder than arena shows. I've been using ear protection for my own gigs for years, freakin' cymbal crashes destroy your hearing. I also take along Hearos to loud small venue shows when loud ass bands like Drive-By Truckers or Black Crowes play.

I really wanted to see them one last time. :(

Couldn't afford to travel to see them.

I guess it's DVD for me.

They always played forever here in those days of yore.

This concert was so fantastic that I can't stop thinking about it.

I even checked into getting airline tickets and going to the show in Glendale, Arizona tomorrow.

But at airfare of $404 per person, plus rental car, plus concert tickets, plus hotel, it just didn't seem worth it.

There are only a few shows remaining. So if you have the opportunity, I would highly recommend that you find a way to go see this fabulous concert with these two superb musicians and their fine band.
