McSeven
I think that Humble Pie and Heart are Zeps kid brother/sister. I have been listening to Humble Pie and Heart on Wolfgang vaults.com. They are the real deal. If you like Zep. I can't believe that I haven't listened to Humble Pie before. Wow. Its not like Zep but its the close in the live context. Heart the same thing as well. Both H/HP take after Zep in a live context. Does anyone think I am off the mark. Mc7
Evster2012
Check out Badlands' first album. More metal than Zeppelin, but there's some really strong Zeppelin vibes in some of the songs.

lzzoso
Just to go along with this topic, I would have to say: Aerosmith. Mainly because Joe Perry is such an admirer and in such awe of Jimmy. I would bet money on it that if you asked Joe Perry who had the most profound influence on his playing and songwrtiting abiltity he would say Mr. Jimmy Page. Aww, you took the words right out of my mouth. As I've said before, I think Dream On sounds like Jimmy. I know Steven wrote it, but who says Joe didn't add a little Jimmy-spice to it? Evster2012
Aerosmith were huge Yardbirds fans. In fact, the roots go back almost to the time of the formation of Zeppelin. I mean, October 1970 wasn't so far behind, and Perry and Hamilton were going before that. Heck, Tyler is OLDER than Plant! It just took a couple more years to get signed. Evidently Columbia wasn't as hip as Atlantic!
ninelives
Thing that always surprised me with Aerosmith was when they were accepting their induction into the RRHOF, they thanked a ton of bands and if memory serves me right, Zep was not one of them. I was a bit surprised by that as clearly they were huge fans and such.

I mean, how many times have you seen 'Dream On' and Zeppelin in the same sentence? Not to mention that, for a time, Joe Perry looked like he was channeling Pagey. The influence is undeniable - it's there - but perhaps they felt it went without saying? I'd say that, as well as Heart being Zeppelin's lil' sister, Guns N' Roses had some definite sibling rivalry going on, too. Easily identifiable as their own band, you could still hear the influence. I kind of see G'n'R as the '80's 'hair metal' little brother version of Zeppelin - they rocked the riffs, epic solos, had charisma, lived somewhere between decadency and debauchery, etc. Less Golden God; more curly mop in a mirrored top hat. And just as iconic.

Some of there songs remind me a little of Zep, but as LDW said, there is also Heart and Guns N'Roses. I know Nancy Wilson is influenced by Jimmy and Slash is too. I have an old Guns N'Roses magazine where Slash says his favorite guitarist is Jimmy.

Well, you'd think that they would've showed some appreciation/gratitude if they were listing off bands, but sometimes these artists don't. I dunno. If they felt that their influence lay with the Yardbirds, then they may have felt like they were the more important band to acknowledge? It's weird, though. Reggie29
Sorry to burst the bubble but, Led Zeppelin were an only child! On the other hand they spawned a lot of illegitimate offspring (in the musical sense, that is)!

But Jimmy is a heavy influence, it's easy to see.

theycallmethehunter
Id have to disagree Humble Pie isnt like Zeppelin.. Most of their roots come from late Small Faces stuff, like Wham Bam Thank You Mam and other works, before Zeppelin. But my dad always says Aerosmith are the american Led Zeppelin. Aquamarine
The late Small Faces are nothing like Zeppelin, though. Plus there's much more Chuck Berry in Humble Pie, IMO. (Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am/Natural Born Woman/Little Queenie etc. being all essentially the same song.)

danelectro
Humble Pie definitely isn't Zep's little anything considering they started at the same time and IMO progressed a little faster than LZ, I don't think LZ hit their stride as early as HP did. The first 5 HP studio albums are tough as nails.
