3 nights at MSG in the vaults

I've been thinking about the TSRTS and how its a culmination of 3 concerts filmed and multi-track recorded. When you subtract the fantasy sequences and the Shepperton Studio re-shoot inserts you're really left over with a hell of alot of unused concert footage.

You can see plenty of snippets of this unused footage during the end credits on Zeppelin's DVD, and it looks very very good.

I know Page said that the reason they needed to do the Shepperton re-shoot was to fill in gaps that wasn't filmed, but after 3 nights of filming I'd say that they got it all.

For example: The first couple of verses of STH from TSRTS of Plant singing is from the Shepperton re-shoot. There's no way that the beginning of STH was missed 3 nights

in a row. The director just wanted the dramatic overhead slow zoom crane shot for "cinematic impact", that was the purpose of the entire Shepperton studio re-shoot,

it wasn't because of 'missing' footage.

I know that TSRTS can't be tampered with but I'm sure the unused footage

(which there is a hell of alot of) along with the multitrk recordings belong to Zeppelin, not Warner Bros., hopefully one day we'll see more from these concerts than has been shown so far.

Imagine seeing Page playing the solo to No Quarter instead of JPJ riding around on a horse?

I think you answered your own question. TSRTS can't be tampered with. Jimmy tweaked and cut and edited it to the point that it's an amazing piece of work that uses pieces from all those shows, as well as bits from other performances (according to the fellow who wrote "The Garden Tapes"). Releasing another show from this series would be redundant. It's not like the MSG shows were that exceptional anyway-- every serious bootleg fan can name you a half dozen '73 shows that were better than these. Plant's voice was shot, Jimmy's playing was a little uneven... this is why Jimmy had to do so much editing, tweaking, sweetening, and even overdubbing, allgedly.

Hello Walter Five!

I mean this with the upmost respect, but if Zeppelin ever had what would be called -not their best day...it would still be better than ANY other band on their best day-- IMHO!!

Ok. I'm going to un-answer the question that I answered myself (been drinking...again).

If TSRTS can't be tampered with then why does both Black Dog and SIBLY from the Zep's DVD contain different video and audio than those songs from TSRTS film?

And sure, there was some better shows on that that tour than the MSG gigs,

but they weren't filmed and multitrack recorded.
