Favorite "Pop" songs

Obviously these songs I am going to name could be considered "Pop" songs and would seem to have nothing to do with any Led Zeppelin songs (although some of them might).

If some of these songs may be unfamiliar to you, just type in the name of the song that I list on YouTube and it should appear in an instant. Remember, these are some songs that I like. You may agree or completely disagree. I am in favor of your thoughts, opinions, likes and dislikes. Please feel free to post your own. I would appreciate your "other" tastes in music. Here goes: in no particular order: Just random songs off the top of my head:

"A Little More Love"... Olivia Newton John

"We Got the Beat" - "Our Lips are Sealed" - "Vacation"... the Go-Go's

"Don't Tell Me You Love Me" - "Sing Me Away"... NightRanger

"Lido Shuffle" - "Lowdown"... Boz Scaggs

"Women"...Def Leppard

"Dream Police" - "She's Tight"...Cheap Trick

"Come on Eileen"...Dexy's Midnight Runners

"Steppin' Out...Joe Jackson

"Don't You Want Me"...Human League

"Heart and Soul"...Huey Lewis

I must admit that alot of these songs are from the 1980's. I was a teenager when most of these songs came out. Like I said, these are just a few songs that I like that seem to have nothing to do with Led Zeppelin. Even though we all consider LZ to be the absolute best in Music, there are other good songs out there. What are yours?

I listen (or used to listen) a lot to Huey Lewis & The News. Mainly because some of their songs were used for the Back To The Future soundtrack (BTTF = one of my favorite movies). That's how I heard about them.

I don't necessarily consider Zeppelin to be "the absolute best in Music". They're without a doubt among my very favorite artists though.

As for the songs you'd like us to list I'm not sure if you're asking for "Pop" songs (which can be interpreted in a number of different ways), what we consider our "guilty pleasures", our favorite music or what.

some of my favorite "Pop" songs (also in no particular order):

"Rock & Roll Heaven"- Righteous Brothers

"Devil Woman"- Cliff Richard

"Saturday Night"- Bay City Rollers

"Ride Captain Ride"- Blues Image

"Brandy"- Looking Glass

"Play that Funky Music"- Wild Cherry

"It Never Rains in Southern California"- Albert Hammond

"Jive Talkin'"- Bee Gees

(yeah I grew up in the 70s)

I like some of the 80s stuff that you listed lzzoso, like "Come On Eileen", "Don't You Want Me" & "We Got the Beat". I watched quite a bit of MTV in 82-83 & saw the videos for those songs lots of times.

I guess the phrase, "guilty pleasures" would be a good phrase to use. I just mean songs that you find enjoyable (other than Rock and Roll). Maybe some songs that you like but haven't heard in a long time. Like when I mentioned those songs by the Go-Go's. (Officially I guess the Go-Go's could be considered Rock and Roll but you should know what I mean). Those type of songs that I do not hear that often. However, with the advent of the internet and YouTube, any song is just a search away.

Okay. I started this topic and maybe a couple of my choices in the beginning may be more Rock and Roll that "POP".

Here are some of my other favorite "POP" songs that I enjoy:

"Into the Groove" - "Crazy for You" - Madonna

"Hey Ya" - Outkast

"Superstar" - the Carpenters

"All You Zombies" - the Hooters

"Voices Carry" - 'Til Yuesday

"I Touch Myself" - the DiVinyls

"She's A Beauty" - the Tubes

Again, I will continue to post more of these great songs as I remember them. Some of you may or may not agree with my selections. Just as I may or may not agree with your selections. However, I am a very open-minded person (I think) and would really welcome your choices. Like I said before, if I have not heard of your picks, I will gladly look them up and play them on YouTube.

I get a bang out of a Carrie Underwood or Taylor Swift song every once in a while (and yes, that is pop, by God - NOT country!). I like a lot of Christina Aguilera songs, too...I was just listening to Candyman awhile ago (although technically I guess that's swing, hmm). Uh, I don't know...I'm not really up on the pop scene. I hate all that dance stuff that's going around right now, like that "A-a-a-a-a-alcohol Baby" song, ugh.

They're just good songs. Toe tappers, some might say. Shakira was on SNL tonight. Her new songs were pretty good, her body was better though.

Hey kakdaddy! How are you? I LOVE SHAKIRA! She can really dance and tempt the devil himself can't she? I saw her perform on Dancing With The Stars just this last Wednesday, I can tell that the show told her to tone down the ruthless booty shaking! I missed seeing her on SNL, hopefully I can see it somewhere in a rerun on cable. Isn't SHAKIRA from Columbia? Thats Cocaine country besides Bolivia! Ha Ha! Take care and ROCK ON FOREVER my friend!

Her Spanish album is pretty good - not quite so "pop" if you will.

Hi ninelives! How are you? I miss you! I think that the guys are concentrating more on looking at her dance rather than hearing the music! Ha Ha!

You're right dear, not all of them are Cocaine users, just the majority of them are! Ha Ha! ROCK ON FOREVER my dear friend.

Great song too. "The Andrea True Connection" I believe? I like her singing better than her porn, which I'm not sure which be considered more insulting to her. Anyway, great song.

Hey kakdaddy! You're right my friend! I love the song "More More More!" ROF my friend!
