a clockwork tangerine
Just listened to both of these again today. I like Stroll On better because it sounds heavier and dirtier (probably due to the fact that Jimmy's playing on it). Train Kept a Rollin' just sounds like it's missing something. And I like Stroll On better because it's one of the few songs on record when Jimmy and Jeff play together - a great combination. Which one do you like better? moonson
hey clockwork tangerine, i do like em both, but in the antonioni film stroll on is edited kinda poorly and the sound of train on record is better anyway. yes, jimmy is on stroll on with the dual lead guitar in full flight, but it´s old jeff that gets most attention, playing a pete townshend role. weird, innit ? anyway are you familiar with the ? I've heard that Antonioni originally wanted The Who for the film but he ended up getting The Yardbirds instead. I love both Train & Stroll On but I would have to give a slight favoritism edge to Stroll On (at least for now- ask me again another time & I might say Train). kakdaddy
"Stroll On" definately. Pure Punk/Garage vibe. One of the best guitar leads to come out of the entire 60's.
ally
Just depends on which version of Train we`re talking about. Love the Anderson Theatre version. Plenty of balls on that one. To me, the whole Train - Stroll On riff is killer. Simple as they come but deadly none the less.

I feel the same way as you do, I also love them both but I'll give the edge to "Stroll On!" Take care and ROCK ON FOREVER my friend.

In the Velvet Underground biography UPTIGHT,theres a paragraph saying Antonioni originally wanted VU to play in that scene, but it was too expensive for the band to fly over to europe from new york and his next choice was The Who, which somehow didnt happen. but the idea of a guitar smash was obviously carried over and given to the Yardbirds.
