marmorek
This is quite an interesting discovery! These scans are from the 1970 yearbook of Eric Hamber Secondary School in Vancouver, BC. I got them from a friend of my mom's friend. I'm not sure if she was at the show or not, but she probably knows someone who was. I will keep all of you updated if I find out more. It's quite likely that there was a typo in the yearbook and the show actually occurred on March 21st, 1970, as Led Zeppelin did play a show at Vancouver's Pacific Coliseum on that evening. Could this show have happened? What do you guys think? My brother went to the same school many years later, so I've seen the auditorium many times. It seems a bit too hard to tell where this photo was taken, though. I can try to find a reference photo of the auditorium, if you'd like.

Definately a typo, as Page & Plant were at Bron-Y-Aur in Wales (or had recently returned) on that date. They held a one hour press conference at the airport for the Vancouver concert and so far as I know they did not say anything about doing a show at the Eric Hamber Secondary School, not to mention having to move all the equipment to the Pacific Coliseum. I'm sure someone will pinpoint where that photo was taken and if it matches known photos from Vancouver 3/21/70. If I had to guess I would say the yearbook staff were having a laugh. I'll have to ask the owner of the yearbook. She seemed reasonably certain that it did happen, although I'm still a little skeptical. Maybe she knows someone who was supposedly at the show and can enlighten us.

Well done. If memory serves correct they did not land until around 4pm, ruling out a concert anywhere in Vancouver that day but Pacific Coliseum. Press conference was at airport. Wish I'd been on earlier Marmorek as I could have solved this for you pronto. That is a picture from the concert at the Pacific Coliseum. I have that year book as I was a student at Eric Hamber..lol and know for a fact that it was thrown into the annual as a joke. There is a great chance that I know the person that you got this from. Maybe a pm is in order

canduccis
Just so you all know this concert @ Eric Hamber in Vancouver really did happen .... for me it was grade 8 and I was there and I tell you it was fabulous. I see there are a plethora of unbelievers on this sight so I have copied a previous article I just found on google just so you can do your own homework. It was my album that got copied on this site so believe what you want to believe but they were there and I have been a massive Zeppelin fan ever since : and also consider my self lucky to be a teen of that era )) )Diende McAuk 09-04-2005, 10:39 AM My buddy was over a couple nights ago and we were talking about concerts we had seen. He's a fair number of years older then me (50) so I was asking him about some of the legendary bands he'd seen. Beatles? Yes. (Empire Stadium, Vancouver as an 8 year old!) Stones? Nope. Hendrix? He wished! Led Zeppelin? Yup! THEY PLAYED AT HIS HIGH SCHOOL! The story goes something like this... Some kid who went to his school had a father who was the sound tech at the local stadium (probably the Pacific Coliseum) and said the next band coming in wanted a place to rehearse. He suggested his kid's high school (Eric Hamber Secondary) and they showed up and played a free lunch hour concert there! This guy is one of my closest friends and swears this really happened. ( But, he's bringing up his yearbook to show me photographic proof too! ) Any Hamber (Vancouver BC) grads here who can add more to this story? I'd love to know what they played! Not even any shitty local bands ever played my high school... Anyway, thought some of you guys might enjoy that one.

canduccis
I know I don't have any photos as in 1970 I sure didn't walk around with my massive Pentax at school. This was not a planned gig as the above article said it was impromptu so only those that were walking by the auditorium and lured in from the great sound saw it. eternal light
It happened, I was there Is there any live film documenting this event? Led Zeppelin was at Headley Grange Studios, Hampshire on May 31, 1970. I wonder what they did between May 21 and May 31. Maybe Steve Jones would know. Okay, I scrolled up; still trying to figure it out.

Maybe Steve Jones would know. Okay, I scrolled up; still trying to figure it out. Jimmy & Robert were at Bron-Y-Aur in Wales around those dates, not Headley Grange. The yearbook staff may have made a typo in executing this gag, as the actual date of the Vancouver concert which was held is Mar 21st. Bottom line, again, is this "undiscovered show" NEVER HAPPENED, as Ally, who attended the school, has already explained.
Rock Action
Oh baloney. I was there that night, and Led Zeppelin definitely did NOT play. It was the Stooges. Or was it the Stones? ..............No, WAIT! I remember now. It was Alice In Chains!!
