Zoso94T
We started a band at my High School, and my bassist pal needs a good bass amp!I am an expert on guitars/guitar amps and basses, but i don't really know much about bass amps !!We need a loud and versatile amp between 20 or 30 Watts, and we can afford around 200 Euros...I was keen on a Marshall MB 30 although i read that it's great, but not loud enough!Any help will be gratefully accepted!! You may get lucky and find some one with a used amp that would be on the cheap! But like my dad always told me about used cars, "when you by a used car you may be buying some one eleses problums". I have come across a deal or two here and there, but only when I was buying from an individual, not a store or shop. If you do buy something used test it out and do some research on it first. If you have a steady job you can put the 200 down on a nicer amp and pay as you go. I've not run into a music store owner yet that wouldn't work with some one on a payment basis. This brand is one of the widest used on the market... http://www.ampeg.com/ This one is popular to..... http://www.gallien-krueger.com/ There are a number of others and if you want to be creative you don't even have to use a Bass amp. A beefy (meaning hi powered) key board amp or even a small PA rig will work great. I've used a small format mixer and a power amp/speaker for years with no trouble at all. I've worked some stages where the bass player showed up with just his bass and a cable! I plugged it into a Direct Box and ran it strait into the monitor console. Of course the stages I was working on then had monitor systems that would put a small time local bands PA to shame!
