Another thing to like about this forum. In addition to discussing Led Zeppelin and other music, I enjoy the movie recommendations and reminders (like fishhead's post) about movies I've missed.

Saw "Argo" on the weekend. Thumbs up from me.

Hey thanks jb126!....just too bad I can't be like Kramer and the "movie phone".......got Argo sitting beside me too waiting for a free night...cheers

Keyser Soze! Great movie.

To escape the drunken hordes last night, I went(this thread is called "I've Been Going...") to see two of the Hope/Crosby/Lamour Road movies: "Road to Morocco" and "Road to Utopia", the third and fourth entries in the series.

Starring Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour, naturally. A very young Anthony Quinn appears in "Road to Morocco".

Great fun, light and silly movies that don't take themselves seriously...but also don't stoop to grotesquery and insult the viewer's intelligence like so many lowbrow comedies today.

"Why don't you just tell me the movie you want to see?" Great episode.

Back on topic.

Another movie I watched again yesterday while doing some housework is "The Usual Suspects".

jb126, I was just coming back here to mention The Usual Suspects and I saw your post ....freaky!......(thanks for the laugh too re: movie phone) Strider mentioned he liked it too....Great movie......

Another one i loved was Glengarry Glen Ross (Alec Baldwin mesmerizing and the entire cast is incredible)...have you seen it? Ciao

I just heard that 'Fargo' was directed by that Aflac Duck! :^) (SNL)

We just watched 'The Court Jester' with Danny Kaye. The scene where he's knighted was hilarious. This scene too. :^) Glynis Johns was a hottie.

Watched Argo....Loved it.

Ben Affleck did a great job.

Great job?

Uh, yeah, did you watch the credits and see how great he did? The photos were spot on...

Glad you enjoyed it. I watched it with my 21 yrs old son, and I got to reminisce about this important time in US history.

We watched it over the weekend too and thought it was fantastic (and riveting).

Just watched two powerful films:

'The Pawnbroker' w/Rod Steiger

'The Redemption Of General Butt Naked'---Sounds like a funny title, but this guy was a mass murderer.

Redrum, I think I saw an episode of Pawnstars where a guy brought in an old movie poster of `Pawnbroker`` the movie.......Rick bought it from the guy for the Pawnstars store his family owns if I remember correctly.,,,,,, I will try to check the flick out.

No offense but the other one sounds like a porno lol.....It`s April 2nd so I know you`re not trying to pull one over on us. I may check it out too......

cheers Fishy

I like 'Pawn Stars' but don't think I saw that episode. I know in the movie his pawn shop has those 3 balls hanging outside his shop. I don't really know what they signify.

The Butt Naked film is a tough one to watch. It was during the 14 year Liberian civil war that warlord Joshua Blahyi who called himself 'General Butt Naked' because when he ran around killing people with his army of brutal kids he was naked. They were a bunch of sick bastards and the kids were especially brutal. But Blahyi suddenly got 'religion' and tries to come off as a preacher and then confesses that he killed 20,000 people. He confronts a lot of his victims and some forgive him but the irony is he is given amnesty by the goofy tribunal they set up. I personally think he's bullshitting just to save his own ass.

We watched 'The King Of Comedy' with Robert DeNiro and Jerry Lewis last night. Hadn't seen it since the 80's and it's pretty hilarious, especially where they can't remember DeNiro's name 'Pupkin'. They call him 'Pipkin', Pufkin' and 'Pumpkin'.

Very cool movie I watched last night.

It was pretty hard to follow the extreme accents, but I almost think it was intentional.

Pretty complex movie to follow - you really have to pay attention.

But the payoff is worth it.

There are a lot of very intense characters here, as well as a lot of humor.

If you haven't seen it, it's well worth a couple hours of your time to watch.

Brad Pitt is incredible.

Another recommended movie I've managed to see is Killer Joe.

Great recommendation, Strider.

I love the part where DeNiro and his mom are yelling back and forth at each other. Great movie. I gotta see it again too.

Hey TypeO, this too is one of my all time favorite movies and I agree, Brad Pitt is fantastic!

The other character I got a kick out of was Brick Top (Played by Alan Ford). He has that soliloquy about getting rid of bodies by using pigs..."Beware of the man who owns pigs".......This movie came out in 2000 and then a couple of years later we had the Robert Pickton (pig farmer) serial murder case in the Vancouver BC area. Creepy.
