Watched TCM's Cary Grant marathon on Sunday. Some old faves (Topper, Bringing Up Baby, His Girl Friday, To Catch a Thief, Charade) along with ones I had not seen (Ghost Treasure, Dream Wife).

Last one I saw of his was 'To Catch A Thief.'

I watched the commentary on 'School Of Rock' by Jack Black and the director, and also by the kids in the movie. I don't know how they get all that shit on one DVD. Black's comments about the character 'Spider' was so funny. He said the tattoo he had on his chest would make a great target for an arrow where he would die instantly. Also, Spider's goofy pirouette at he Battle Of The Bands. Black said he should have gotten a best supporting Oscar for that goofy move.

DOH!!

Joey Gaydos Jr., who played lead guitarist ZackZack Attack” Mooneyham in Jack Black's “School of Rock” band, was arrested by Florida police for stealing guitars and an amp over the past five weeks.

Quarantine Cinema roundup of what I have been watching lately. Most of these are classics. They don't need me to song their praises.

What a battle for the 1950 Best Actress...and neither of these two Grand Dames won! Instead, the Oscar went home with Judy Holliday for "Born Yesterday".

"Vanity Fair" (cut and re-released under the title "Indecent") is kind of a dud. A stodgy adaptation of Thackaray's novel "Vanity Fair". It is only notable for being Myrna Loy's first starring role. She was 27 and this was her 58th movie. Yes, it took Hollywood 58 movies to figure out what to do with Myrna Loy and stop wasting her on "exotic girl" roles.

Classic City! 👍

Amazon.com: American Gift Services - Key Largo Humphrey Bogart Vintage Movie Poster - 24x36: Posters & Prints

Johnny Rocco wants it all.

Great classic noir…and the last film pairing of Bogey & Bacall. Devastating scene of Claire Trevor singing "Moanin' Low" a cappella for her booze was done cold, with no rehearsal time for Claire. Basically won her the Best Supporting Actress Oscar that year.

That was a great scene. Was glad when 'Toots' got blasted on the boat. What a prick.

Phyllis Diller is still the best thing about these two movies.

Sweden sure looked an awful lot like California in this movie...particularly Lake Arrowhead, hehe.

Strider,

Have you ever watched "Bachelor in Paradise" with Bob Hope, Lana Turner, Paula Prentiss, and Tim Hutton?  I watched it last night on TCM (had it on my DVR).  Greatest thing about this film are the location shots in the San Fernando Valley back in 1961. Woodland Hills, Panorama City, and other brand spanking new suburbs back in the day.  A real throwback in time.

That one is next up in my queue…along with "The Wicked Dreams of Paula Schultz".
