bigzepfan Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 New JPJ interview. Mostly about Them Crooked Vultures of course, but JPJ did talk a bit about the zep reunion and continuing with Jimmy. Interviewer: Were you disappointed that the led zeppelin reunion didn't come off in a more sort of extended way? JPJ: Well, I mean we put alot of work into the 02 show and i remember actually at one point during the show, i think i was playing the keyboards thinking, i think i'll change that for tomorrow night, thinking, oh there is no tomorrow night, so that was kind of weird. Jimmy and I rehearsed abit with jason and we couldn't really agree on singers so that kind of fell by the wayside and then this came along and to be honest I'm really happy, this is what I'm doing. Isn't that interesting. Wonder who jimmy liked, jpj liked, etc. Probably never know. Quote
bigstickbonzo Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I'm happier Jones is doing this project anyhow. Without Plant, the other project seemed destined to deteriorate at some point..and it did. Quote

glicine Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Wonder who jimmy liked I think it's obvious? Quote
dazedjeffy Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 It's not as "hidden, underlying meaning" as you would thing. They tired out a handful of singers, it was obvious that they couldn't agree on one, good thoughts/moods went down the drain and JPJ found another project that WOULD succeed. Quote
DBJ Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 (edited) I think it is more of a situation where that person they both liked on vocals was not available at the time. If we look at the history of Them Crooked Vultures we see that they predate the O2 Gig in December 07. If they couldn't agree on vocalist then I'm sure Page would have taken the one he liked and finished his solo album that he so urgently needs to get out (his own words) with perhaps Jason Bonham. It sounds more like to me that the project was put on the back burner, and JPJ's back burner project got moved to the front. Remember, Led Zeppelin ( post 1980 especially) always likes to come at you from out of no where. Reunion? What reunion? Did I mention we're having a reunion! oh yeah how's that new Plant Krauss album coming? Edited October 28, 2009 by DBJ Quote
kdh Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Nice to hear some comments from ground zero Quote
zooma Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I wish JPJ expanded a little more about who kept saying no to the singers they considered. Then again he is too much of a gentleman to have done so. Quote

Maybe the only one(isn't that a song title?) that jimmy was interested in was robert. They did interview/jam with several that we already know of. I love the vultures already. It's new, it's exciting and it's part zeppelin. they have a similar mystique in that what they are doing is new, just like zep and that they don't have to promote the crap out of themselves to be recognized. They remind me of when zeppelin decided on the zep 4 album cover to have no band name, no album name, description on it. Quote
