Veteran's Day ~ Rememberance Day

I had a chance to watch a few minutes from Ottawa this morning as well at Canada's War Memorial of our unknown soldier. When I was a kid my grand parents would take me there with them to pay respects. What I remember most about that which so many years ago were the men and women all holding Canada's first flag, the Red Ensign. Sometimes my French heart loses out to my English brain, and today was one of those days.

Thanks for revisiting this thread, jb126. That art installation is incredible. It is beautiful but of course so sombre knowing that each poppy which fills the moat in such a striking way is a life taken too soon.

Good story, Charles. Thanks for sharing your granddad's pic, zepscoda.

Here is a story about Ypres, a city that never forgets. Nightly tributes, and today of course is most poignant:

And some photos of Remembrance Day tributes from around the world:

Thank you to all the servicemen and women as well as civilians who have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice for us.
