LEDMAN!!
What do you speculate the setlist looking like? Do you think they opened with were gonna groove, or do you think they thought of Immigrant Song in the time between landing and the show? NickZepp
It's probably similar to the Bath setlist just 6 days later.
Otto Masson
The actual setlist as such cannot be reconstructed, but from concert reviews we know they played (of course not in that order) How Many More Times, Dazed and Confused (of which a snippet can be seen and heard on the DVD menu), Heartbreaker, Bring It On Home, and Moby Dick, and the encores were Whole Lotta Love, Communication Breakdown and "a new song". Robert worked on the lyrics for Immigrant Song while staying here, and it's hard to believe they would have performed it right away (they did play it a week later, at the Bath festival), but I still haven't been able to find out for sure what the new song was, perhaps Since I've Been Loving You, but that's guessing. I did ask somebody who was there whether they performed Immigrant Song, and that person, going just from memory, said that they didn't. SteveAJones
This from Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton: Have you ever heard the sound track from "South Pacific"? My parents used to play it all the time when I was a little kid. There's a song on it called "Bali Hai" which was my favorite...I wonder if Robert Plant was thinking about that song when he wrote the vocal to "Immigrant Song." Check it out sometime:
