bigstickbonzo
It would be interesting to see what happens since Cameron has been with Pearl Jam since 1998. Smells like Cornell's fabled solo career has finally gone kaput. That aside, the first of hopefully many gifts this decade has to offer. LarryD
Far out! It's only been nearly 18 years since I saw them in concert. In tribute, I've got on Badmotorfinger right now!
DRUNK08
Some of the best news I've ever heard. If they tour, I will be there, hopefully multiple times. I absolutely love Soundgarden. I hope they record a new album of material. Cornell's voice has come back from the dead, and it's gotten so close to the old days. Maybe he will continue to improve, I certainly hope. I hope this gets the promotion it deserves and that this is a successful reunion. They have always been underrated in my opinion
kiss of fire
This was on a blog I read. A bit of info on keeping track of the reunion info. "Cornell confirmed the reformation of the band, which split in 1997, via Twitter on New Year's Eve. "The 12 year break is over & school is back in session. Sign up now. Knights of the Soundtable ride again! http://www.soundgardenworld.com/" he wrote. For now, the site simply allows fans to offer up their names and email addresses to be among the first for updates as to the band's reunion plans." There is also a smokin Soundgarden clip that greets you! Edited January 4, 2010 by kiss of fire
Otto Masson
Great news! Chris went up on stage with Pearl Jam a few months back, with the rest of Soundgarden in attendance, and he's very obviously on form, to say the least.... Apparently, so are all the others, including the mysterious Kim Thayil, the architect of all these dark Soundgarden riffs. This reunion seems promising indeed. I'm afraid the Red Hot Chili Peppers may have lost their driving force now that John is again leaving the band, so it's good to see another really strong band re-emerge. DRUNK08
Chris wrote 90% of Soundgarden songs.
Otto Masson
Chris wrote 90% of Soundgarden songs. Nope. In very many cases he did write both the music and the lyrics, but Ben and the others also contributed songs (Ben wrote a lot of the music on Down on the Upside). As for those guitar riffs, they are certainly Kim's.

Thanks a bunch Otto for posting that video. Put a big smile on my face. I was lucky to see Soundgarden years ago and also the first Audioslave tour. Chris was amazing and kicked ass on every song including the Rage Against the Machine tunes. I am so looking forward to this reunion! As for those guitar riffs, they are certainly Kim's. Ok. Then why do my CD's show 90% of the writing credits going to Cornell? EDIT: Cornell wrote probably 70% instead of 90%, with most of those songs being written entirely by him. Kim is great, along with the rest of the members, but please give credit where credit is due. Well, I did just that. If you think what I said about Kim is an injustice to Chris, then I suggest you read interviews with Kim and maybe pick up a guitar mag or two and see what they have to say about his guitar playing. You said Kim was responsible for all those dark riffs in Soundgarden, which simply isn't true. I've read all the interviews man. You are just wrong and trying to backtrack. Rock N' Rollin' Man
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLeIUlFSUJo Submitted for your listening pleasure, please enjoy this live version of Spoonman from a show we played on 11/30/96 at Del Mar fairgrounds in San Diego CA. On this '96 tour, we recorded all the shows (on two inch tape) from the west coast run, to one day release as a live album (disc). We never got around to mixing those shows until recently and we were surprised at how crazy cool it all is!
