SteveAJones Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Insipid publicity stunt as he has been dealing with tinitus for over 20 years. Quote
kaiser Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I wouldn't say it's a publicity stunt but one of his characteristic mood swings. He tends to speak in extremes when he's focused on something negative or positive, when he's feeling negative about something The Who are finished & when he's feeling positive The Who have yet another life line. He's been doing that since the sixties if you delve into his interviews. His hearing problems stretch back to the 70's but a big fuss was made of it during The Who's 1989 tour. There's a clip of Townshend & Moon discussing Townshend's hearing problems from 1978 in "The Kids Are Alright" movie. Quote
Zepaholic Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 They've been the pseudo-Who for decades anyway. No Ox and Moony but continues on with this farce....i wish that i understood where Pete is at. Quote

Couldn't agree more ! At least we don't have to suffer through this with Zep . Oh yeah, I've come to accept that reality ! Quote
Wolfman Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 Well it's obviously more than a stunt since they just cancelled their Spring tour for this year. Quote
DRUNK08 Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 The truth seems to be that Townshend isn't into it anymore. He's working on some sort of musical, and he'd prefer to do that, according to the new RS article. As far as the tinnitus goes, who knows? I would think he'd have learned to deal with it by now, whether tolerating it, or discovering ways to minimize the impact, or prevent further problems. Personally, I think they should hang it up. They're pretty horrible to listen too these days. I saw them live in 2000 I think, that tour where they were supposed to tour with Page and the Black Crowes. They were awful for me personally. Quote

Really. I've seen them numerous times and have yet to see a bad show. Pete is still one of the best around. Quote
