redrum Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 One time when I was about 10 my friend let me wear his real expensive ring that had emeralds and diamonds. (why he let me wear it I'll never know) I was by myself in an old lot and doing crazy kid stuff I was twirling around and the ring flew off my finger and landed somewhere in the weeds and tall grass. I never found it and had a hell of a time edxplaining what happened. I'll bet the ring is still in that lot too. I had a nice Nikon F ripped off from my work. Quote
Reggie29 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 In the early '80's I "lost" my entire vinyl record collection some 400+ albums (including III with the wheel), when they mysteriously disappeared while moving house. Some time later they turned up at a friend of a friend's house all scratched and virtually useless. After that incident whenever I move all my music and such goes with me in the car! Quote
badgeholder Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I still can't find my two Led Zeppelin ticket stubs.....grrrrr Quote
Virginia Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Right after my son was born, I took 2 rolls of film from his first couple of days to Giant (grocery store) for processing. I got back 2 rolls of someone else's prints :'( Apparently the prints were sent to "Giant Corporate" up in the DC area, so we had no way of tracing where our pictures actually went. Nothing could ever replace those missing pictures, especially not the 2 rolls of free film they offered After that, I always paid more for in-store processing. I'm still horribly upset about it and he's almost 14 now. Quote
BonzoLikeDrumer Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I was a teen age dope smoker (back when most every one was), I once spent a good amount of money on a very large bud-top and stashed it away in the basement of my parent's house. Me and some of my friend's had been partying all day and I wanted to save it for a rainy day, I told nobody about it and just secretly tucked it away some where in the cold dark basement. I had been so high that day I forgot where I stuck it and never did find it, I'm sure my folk's never found it as they would have given me a hard time about it (they care). I don't know, maybe the mover's that relocated my parent's when they moved a few years later found it and had a moving party. Quote
Cletus Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I once had a bicyle, that cost me $1,000, stolen. Quote
bigstickbonzo Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I once had a bicyle, that cost me $1,000, stolen. It didn't, per chance, happen at the Jersey Shore did it? If so, I apologize. I really didn't feel like walking home from the bar that night. Quote
HeyHeyWhatCanIDo Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I lost my gallbladder four years ago. I didn't take care of myself my first and only semester away at college and I got sick. I finally found out it was my gallbladder and I had surgery to have it taken out. Quote

3DayBender Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 My virginity ...which is most likely a good thing...coz if I was saving myself for marriage I'd literally be The 40 Year Old Virgin...on a serious note...my original CD collection (over 2500) which due to various financial strains over 15 years ago dwindled down to a mere 400...bleh... kirchzep27 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 two pair of good sunglasses, yrs ago. lost the last ones out on the boat and they fell off into the drink, in slow motion. went back at low tide, at night with a lantern and crab net looking for them, never found em. only own cheap sunglasses now and i dont know where the current ones are. i have a pair of my friend's wife's sunglasses which she left at my place. they are in town once or twice a year and ofcourse i always forget to give them to her. Deborah J Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 During/after hurricane Katrina my house (which did not flood) was broken into twice!! They took quite a few things, but the most valuable was the box of all my ticket stubs from the concerts I attended. I am a neat freak (seriously) and I even had the box nicely labeled...rat bastards They took a couple of hundred vinyls and literally over 300 CD's...those are easy to replace, but the vinyls not so easy. I had taken all my Zeppelin vinyl's with me, so thank goodness I did that. But the most important thing to me was my family pictures..and thankfully they took none of those. Quote
redrum Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I got back 2 rolls of someone else's prints :'( That happened to me too except with 8mm film. In the 60's I lost my mind to LSD (literally) and it took about 4 years to find it again. Quote

Deborah J Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 my sorries (if thats a word). but still glad you took your Zeppelin vinyls along with you. what concert stubs were in there? Thanks for the kind words! All of them from the 70's and 80's and some 90's. I listed the concerts I attended on one of the threads ( and probably left out a few (what can I say, it was the 70's) I had them in order and labeled...it was heart breaking to see this gone. But at least my family photo's were there which in the big scheme of things is the most important... and I have the memories of those concerts Most of the CD's I have replaced but I continually look for the vinyl's (not bootlegs) but the real ones and they have been a bit more diffuicult to find. KB(I is started that here thread for a reason, dang it! ) Thanks for the concern. I have made my peace with the fact that they choose to turn their back on me but it sometimes makes me angry that their Dad was very hurt by what they did and time is lost that will never be able to be made up. There are also grandchildren involved that we are missing watch grow up. Quote
Footsteps of Dawn Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 The Stanley Cup last year. Well, it wasn't exactly me that lost - it was the Red Wings - but they're my team, so ya know, it counts in my mind. Well, I went on a cruise to Alaska with my parents when I was 7, and I took along this little ball I'd knitted in school (I went to a weird school in K-2nd grade). It had pillow stuffing in the middle, so it was soft, right, and I was so proud of myself for picking a good combination of colors and for not leaving any big holes in the knitting. It was the first knitting project I'd really done a good job on. Well, apparently I'd left it in the dining room the night before we were supposed to leave, and the next day when we figured out what happened and went to ask about it, nobody could find it. Stupid thing just bloody disappeared! I was so bummed. If I still had it today, I probably wouldn't care about it that much, but since I was so bummed out at the time, I still remember it to this day. Hmmm, my parents had their P.O.S. car stolen out of our driveway in my senior year of school, but we got it back, lol. The whole thing's really kind of hilarious. First of all, I don't know how they found our street - nobody can find our street! The pizza guy always gets lost, even with GPS! So that took talent to start with. My mom and I go out the door to go to school, and no car! We were all looking in the neighbor's yard to see if it had rolled out of the driveway, but nope, no car anywhere. Then, out of all the cars on the street, including a BMW and a Lexus, they take our completely crappy 1991 Toyota Camry (this was in 2003, so it was pretty old even then). Maybe it was the easiest to break into or something, I don't know. Then they totally trashed it - we figured they must have cut themselves with a screwdriver taking off the license plate, and used up all the stuff in our first aid kit and totally trashed the car. It was pretty nasty. The police found it abandoned on the side of the freeway in South Bay (really nice part of town ), and we got it back (but then we got a new one because it was gross). Why they went through all that trouble just to leave it there, I do not understand. Quote
