John Paul Jones and Madeline Bell perform "Comin' Atcha" on BBC2's television programme Colour My Soul.

CominAtchacover.jpg

"The project was also a major departure in musical direction for John Paul Jones, playing a mixture of funk, jazz, r&b, and soul for the recording, during the year long absence from touring Led Zeppelin undertook in late 1973 and throughout 1974. John Paul Jones had previously sessioned for Madeline Bell in 1968, before joining Led Zeppelin." (wikipedia)

Led Zeppelin release the single "Fool in the Rain" with "Hot Dog" as the B-side.

Led-Zeppelin-Fool-In-The-Rain-115197.jpg

"This song was never performed live at Led Zeppelin concerts, as it was heavily studio-based. The piano was quite necessary in the song, but with John Paul Jones on piano, there could be no bass. There is also a twelve-string guitar line at one point in the song and the guitar solo that has to be pulled off. However, on 5 October 2005, Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant performed the song with Pearl Jam at a Hurricane Katrina benefit show." (wikipedia).

December 12

On this day in 1979, Robert Plant and John Bonham attended the Paul McCartney & Wings show in Birmingham, England, part of what turned out to be Wings' final U.K. tour.

Would this meeting up have anything to do with the Concert For Kampuchea and the collaboration after, with all the various musicians taking place with the jam? Were Robert and Bonzo hooked up for this in any way by this meeting? Not sure of the date of this show(s), but I think it was from the end of 1979, with the jam and Robert singing "Little Sister" with Rockpile.

Nice inclusion of the GTC performance with WH and JPJ. Great version. They should do more things together as they click so well musically!
