Achilleslastand
Hello all........ this is my first post here on the forums. Been a Zep lover ever since i was about 13{im 45 now btw}. I recently came across a copy of LZ3 in a local used bookstore for about 10 bucks. Much to my suprise on inspecting the LP,on side 2 it has the inscription "so mote it be"ive heard this means it is a early pressing of the album. Just wanna know if there in any way to confirm this........Thanks

Just wanna know if there in any way to confirm this........Thanks The first pressings of the album included the phrases "Do what thou wilt" and "So mote it be", inscribed on the lacquer itself by engineer Terry Manning during the final mastering process. This phrase is from the core tenet of Aleister Crowley's philosophy of Thelema: "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law. Love is the law, love under will. There is no law beyond do what thou wilt." Page was a scholar of Crowley's work, once owning a private collection of Crowley manuscripts, artwork and other ephemera, and in the 1970s even bought one of his residences, Boleskine House on the shores of Loch Ness in Scotland. BTW, welcome to the forum Achilleslastand. Hope to see you around.
beetleron
i would only question the use of the word "inscribed" cuz i can take my exacto knife...........or.........a paperclip............and inscribe whatever i want on anything i have some semi famous (in the zep "community") initials "inscribed" on a few things kinda sickens me

ledzepfvr
Didn't early "Immigrant Song" singles have this also? I did not know that. I got my old 45 and, DAMN, it sure does have inscriptions on it. It has other numbers which if I read correct are matrix numbers (ST-A19953-3) which is also on the label and the catalog number (83097) which is on both sides. But it definately has "Do What Thou Wilt" and goes on with something else that is hard to decipher. Looks like " Shall be the ______ of the _____". It also has several symbols on it that I have no idea what they are. Anybody else have that and know what they are?

Thanks...all these years I've had that 45 and all the times I played that over and over and over and I never saw that on the record. Guess I wasn't too observant.
