zdr Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Well, I found myself in the situation of wanting to say something (not important) about Zep, not wanting to start a thread just for that and not finding an apropriate thread (Ok, I'm not the "search button proficient" ) So, this would be a "small talk" thread about Zep. (If something like this is already here, I'll gladly erase it) Quote
Marcelo bsb Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Everything about Zep is important for Zep lovers, then you should do another thing... Quote
zdr Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 OK, I confess: I just wanted to create a thread of my own. And all the good ideas were taken Anyway, some small talk : One day (as usual, the TV was on VH1 and I was walking through the house, doing IDK what). At one moment, a song captured my interest: it was definitely something different (fresh, heavy, intricate). I posted myself in front of the TV and, shock: it was Page&Plant doing Most High. I couldn't believe how high above the usual (daily) music mudd was this song. Quote
zdr Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 (small talk mode ) I am really familiar with Zep's studio catalogue (and some of the live shows). I know it forward and backward . Anyway, I listen to it in weekly rotation (if not quite daily). And, although, I was surprised when I read comments like "the guitar solo in ALS is top 5". I'm like "whot? what solo? I never noticed a solo!" Strange, Zep's music is so "welded" togheter, that usually I don't notice the pieces and the liks. And when I do, is always like a great discovery Like the fact that there were 3 different riffs in the first minute of The Rover. Do you have such "discoveries of known facts that struck you"? Quote
zdr Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 Hm. It looks like I'm the king of the castle ... and the only habitant Anyway, I was making some order in the "favorites links" on my browser, and I found a shitload of links to this forum (with threads I marked some time ago, to read them later). And a lot of them were Cat's threads, with very interesting old articles. So, in case someone would like to remember those posts, I put the links (too bad that those threads are forgotten now; Cat's work is really impressive): http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5693-led-zeppelin-album-review/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5662-the-led-zeppelin-lands-in-vancouver-newspaper-article/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5671-page-interviewreview-fillmore-west-show/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5707-led-zeppelin-coming-page-interview/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5708-vanilla-fudge-show-a-very-exciting-one/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5706-lz-iii-review/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5736-led-zeppelin-comes-and-goes-concert-review/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5735-led-zeppelin-off-for-europe/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5669-page-interview-about-fourth-album-ritchie-york/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5759-led-zeppelin-concert-wows-cleveland-crowd/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5762-led-zeppelin-tough-group-with-a-whole-lotta-love/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5760-led-zeppelin-fans-soar-out-of-sighttogether/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5809-led-zeppelin-kicking-off-national-tour/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5811-led-zeppelin-opens-record-run-at-forum-review/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5808-robert-plant-one-of-rocks-blithe-spirits/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5812-three-articles-about-canceled-tampa-fl-show/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5789-look-to-web-for-bonham-that-cant-be-beat/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5815-zeppelin-convictions/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5829-led-zeppelin-is-here/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5836-newport-braces-for-july-4-newport-jazz-festival/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5763-experiencing-led-zeppelin-memorable/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5828-zep-and-astrology/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5855-led-zeppelin-heads-rock-concert-friday/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5881-lz-in-l-a-for-start-of-2nd-tour/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5813-rod-stewart-on-jimmy-page/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5807-heavy-metal-thrills-orleans/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5891-led-zeppelin-group-to-play-frankfurt/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5892-oakland-show-review/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5882-plant-on-american-vs-british-audiences/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5893-the-rock-scene-by-ritchie-york-recording-lz-5/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5902-the-rock-scene-by-ritchie-york-hoth-reviews/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5834-rock-super-groups-perform/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5903-a-night-with-led-zeppelin-high-finance-from-heavy-metal/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5938-led-zepplin-sic-scores-in-new-york-opening/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5937-led-zeppelin-draws-largest-crowd-ever-rp-interview/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5856-old-yardbirds-never-diethey-get-famous-rich-lz-i-review/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5901-led-zeppelin-remains-among-most-popular-bands-hoth-review/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5931-led-zeppelin-zooms-for-frenzied-crowd-show-review/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/5965-zeppelin-soars-to-new-heights/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/6005-the-pop-life-coda-review/ http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/topic/6555-mixing-led-zeppelin-ii/ Whew! zdr Posted April 21, 2010 Author Posted April 21, 2010 Hi zdr....thought I'd pop in and say HI so you wouldn't feel so lonely. Wouldn't you be the queen of the castle? Thank you, ledzepfvr, for your support. I was starting to develop an abandoning issue here (not any more ) And..it's my castel, so I can be whatever I want . Today, I will be the jester (I will consider also the queen part -for the love of jewels and garments ) Edit to add those links to other old threads (Otto M's): Quote
zdr Posted April 27, 2010 Author Posted April 27, 2010 He he ..Joni Mitchell knocking out Bob Dylan ("Bob is not authentic at all. He's a plagiarist, and his name and voice are fake").. http://www.newser.com/story/86808/joni-mitchell-bob-dylan-is-a-fake.html I see that Zep, as the worst "thieves" and "plagiarists" (they are just a "cover band", after all* ), are in good company *sarcastic mode Quote
ledzepfvr Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 I designed and strung this necklace using Robert's necklace he wore on the 1973 tour as inspiration. In posting it, the picture did not turn out as well as I had hoped. It is made of round sea shell with red corral, turquoise and silver barrels. Quote
zdr Posted May 3, 2010 Author Posted May 3, 2010 Very nice necklace! I always admired those who can create palpable things (beautiful and/or useful things). All I create are papers. Mountains of sheets. Quote

ledzep45 Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 Was looking at a blog the producer of 'I'm In Rock And Roll Band' made and he told people to comment what their fantasy band would be, one person put: Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John-Paul Jones and John Bonham. Made me laff Quote
zdr Posted June 6, 2010 Author Posted June 6, 2010 Actually, some time ago, at a "fantasy band poll" from Planet Rock Radio(?), that was the exact result of the pickings (drummer, guitarist, bassist, vocal - all from Zeppelin). It's not a joke. http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/story/led-zeppelin-voted-best-fantasy-supergroup-of-all-time Quote

zdr Posted June 25, 2010 Author Posted June 25, 2010 http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/Features/jimmy-page-0625/ I need this place to deposit Zep related stuff Quote
zdr Posted July 1, 2010 Author Posted July 1, 2010 Damn. Why can't I edit my own post? (again, depositing stuff -Interview with producer Shel Talmy http://www.richieunterberger.com/talmy.html -some trivia "P.J. Proby recorded an album in 1968, Three Week Hero released in 1969. Included among the backing musicians was "The New Yardbirds" (Led Zeppelin). Not one or two of them..all FOUR of them... Page, Plant, Jones and Bonham. In fact, this was the first time that all four members of Zeppelin recorded together in a studio." "Jimmy plays on the title track of the Goldfinger sountrack featuring Shirley Bassey. He discloses this during one scene in "It Might Get Loud." Another interesting tidbit that most Zep fans know is that Page also played on Tom Jones' "It's Not Unusual" track, but what may not be all that well known is that the drummer on it, Chris Slade, later was the drummer in The Firm" http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=220206&page=10 Quote
ledzepfvr Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I listen to KLOS in LA for classic rock. Every holiday weekend they have the top 100 whatever and this weekend was the top 100 rock bands of all time as voted by the listeners. I really thought it was going to be the Beatles. But no, much to my pleasant surprise it was LED ZEPPELIN. I totally agree with that!! Quote
zdr Posted July 26, 2010 Author Posted July 26, 2010 My mind will explode: I never knew that the kid from HOTH cover is the same person as one of my favorite TV personna: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00qfzbw How small the world is? zdr Posted August 6, 2010 Author Posted August 6, 2010 Article about how Plant was banned from hanging out with Bonham because the Pat thought the singer was a bad influence. Never heard about that. I am sorry that in Portugal there are few TV channels dedicated for music from the 60's 70's and 80's just a thing ... i recently started buying the Led Zeppelin cd's ( i only could save some money now xD ) so here they are the first three cd's Quote
zdr Posted August 27, 2010 Author Posted August 27, 2010 Good for you, for starting your collection. I gave up listening to VH1 (I pass trough, but I rarely stay) esp. since in the last period they shifted to a newer music. Now, I listen to VH1 Classic, and about 1 time /week I stumble upon some Zep. Quote
