I've just bought a handful of these for $2 each, it's not music I really love but I think I'd rather have cassettes than CDs almost, although they're kind of fiddly to play. Does anyone still have theirs from the 80s or whenever they were popular? I could only find about 2 dozen second hand ones in the record store.

We have a ton in the garage, covering much of the 80s. Are you looking for anything in particular?

I have a whole bunch still and just the other night I dug out all my Dire Straits ones but I can't find their live album. The last ones I got at Wal-Mart for a buck each. I'd like to put most of them to cd but don't have the do-hicky's to do that. :( What I really hate is when the player eats the tape.:wall:

I have a bunch of cassettes that I bought in my youth. I still occasionally listen to some of them. Some of them(the ones I really enjoy listening to the most), I've since replaced on CD.

When I was younger I used to love taping songs off the radio. I have quite a few "Radio Compilations" in my collection, but haven't listened to any of them in ages.

Most of the old tape's I made in the 1980's are not usable any more as I didn't store them properly. Only down fall with analog tape is it will degrade in a short time if you don't keep it dry, cool and away from all source's of light!

Sony Pro's are good blank's as well as the higher priced Maxell's.

I've got alot of Led on cassette. I only used Maxell udxlII-90. Many boots. I used to buy an album, put it on cassette and never listen to the album again. Many of my albums are played once, except of course the destroyer which I just couldn't help myself!

I loved cassettes and had a million or so at one point, but time and many moves have depleted that collection. I have about 3 dozen or so still left but don't play them anymore as they're so old i'm afraid they will get destroyed if I put them in the deck. :o

Even more bazaar is that my brother in law collects old 8 track tapes and he probably has at least a thousand of them. I don't know if they're worth anything, but it's pretty damn neat to see one of those hunks of plastic with Led Zeppelin on it.

I've got all kinds of Disney tapes floating around here somewhere. I drove my parents crazy playing The Little Mermaid in the car. I also really liked this one that had a collection of songs from Disneyland rides (A Pirate's Life for Me, The Tiki Room, It's a Small World, the Electrical Parade song, etc.). Although I think I used to skip over It's a Small World, even when I was like 5, hehe.

I used to have the 4th Album on 8-track, it was a hand-me-down from one of my older sister's. Out of all our 8-track's (we had a couple dozen) that one and a few others lasted the longest. I played it a lot when I was teaching myself to play drum's, it was one of the few that I could use as a constant stick & bass drum exercise.

We only had a few 8 tracks (no Zep), but the one we wore out was Live Rust :D

Here are the actual cassettes that I originally used, did the road trip from Phoenix to Vegas with 2 buddies. A very cool concert that he did that night.
