Chad LaBorde
So happy to see them doing it again, but surprised they won't be at Zeppfest 2011! They havnt finished annouceing the line up for ZepFest...Theyve announced 4 of the 5 waves. Wave 4 had the Yardbirds and they are raising ticket prices after annocuing Wave 5, so wave 5 will be huge. JBLZE is possible.
Ross62
It's cool that he had a chance to pay some respect, but this whole thing was pretty exploitative of Bonzo from most of the stuff I've seen of it. Sorry Jason, but you ain't got the chops or the soul of your father I was fortunate enough recently to watch a DVD of one of JB's LZ shows,it was more than Jason Bonham showing respect. It gave him the chance to showcase his father, who as we all know,Jason lost when he was fourteen. Exploitative? No,I don't agree. Without getting all misty-eyed over this, you've got a son that still obviously grieves for his father and has a chance to show people some of the home movies, concert footage and possibly a side of John Bonham that we'd never seen. Who else could do that, who else could get the show across tastefully more than a family member without being accused of being exploitative? No-one really. And as far as Jason Bonham's "chops and soul",the comparison was not needed. He's quite clear about who his father was. So am I.

Sorry Jason, but you ain't got the chops or the soul of your father I couldn't disagree with you more on all points. And Jason Bonham doesn't need a "chance to pay some respect" to his own father. Knebby
I couldn't disagree with you more on all points. And Jason Bonham doesn't need a "chance to pay some respect" to his own father. I was pretty sceptical about this show. But I went to a performance last November and it was TOTALLY tasteful and very, very moving. Jason did a GREAT job and gave the audience a wonderful evening, and his whole family - not just his Dad - would have been (and were) proud. I would definitely go and see it again, and I never thought I'd even like it.
Aquamarine
I felt exactly the same way--I went because, let's face it, I couldn't not go, but I was dubious. As it turned out, it was a wonderful evening, and the Jason/Bonzo Moby Dick was worth the price of admission alone. (Well, that, and John and Pat trying to keep a straight face while Jason did his Gary Glitter impression . . . )

From what I've seen in videos and interviews online though.. it looks like Jason did a wonderful job of both performing and sharing his memories about his father and Led Zeppelin. As per the other poster I previously quoted.. I didn't get the idea Jason would ever want to exploit his family though. Sharing personal memories especially tastefully.. the way it seemed to have been done.. is something I think that's intended to celebrate a person not exploit them. Knebby
Agreed Kat ^. I am always a little disturbed by the attitude that we as fans have more "claim" to the memory of Bonzo than his own family do. What Jason chooses to do to celebrate his own father and the lasting effect he had on his life is his choice - and if people keep turning up and enjoying it, more power to him. x

Wild Fire Woman
Why isn't this tour doing any European/anywhere apart from US.Canada dates? Is Jason afraid of the reaction he will get bringing this show to a more cynical audience I wonder

(I'm going to the May 10th show ) Too bad you missed the show in Times Square at the Best Buy Theater, considering you're from New York. It was a great show. Glad you will be catching it this time around. I probably won't, but who knows.

Glad you will be catching it this time around. I probably won't, but who knows. If I remember it was on a Monday night & my work schedule makes it hard to get into the city on weeknights, so I'm happy to get a show close to me. It will be interesting to see if Jason made any changes (setlist, maybe adding different footage of John) to this year's shows. (BTW Super Dave, congrats on reaching 3000 posts! )
SuperDave
Thanks for the congrats! I think the show may have been a Monday back in November. I hope you enjoy it this time around. You'll love it! Jason does it with so much class and has a great band to back it up. You can't top this with the exception of the real thing.

The Pagemeister
Bonham says he's added some new songs for the JBLZE's second go-round, including "Achilles' Last Stand," "The Rain Song" and "In the Light," the latter of which Led Zeppelin never performed live.
