Electrophile
So we need to split 30 years ago also? What? People talk about the things Led Zeppelin did during their career (the past) because the band isn't getting back together to do a tour or another show or another album. So their past accomplishments and work are all there is to talk about.
ledzepfvr
I see everybody here speak about Zep at the past, but what about the future? That would be the post Zeppelin forum. The band is the past but the music endures as well as the surviving members.
lzzoso
I see everybody here speak about Zep at the past, but what about the future? As mentioned already, there is no Led Zeppelin future (I wish there was at least something new). I have said this before (and I really hope that I am wrong or mistaken) but I think that Jimmy Page is either "semi" or almost "fully" retired. It has been over 2 years since the one off LZ reunion on December 10, 2007. Great as it was (I was not there but I own 2 different dvd versions of this show). Most of us already know that John Paul Jones is/has recorded and toured with "Them Crooked Vultures". To be completely honest, as much as I LOVE John Paul Jones (Jonesy), I have not yet bought or really listened to this new project. I realize that all I have to do is search YouTube and I will come across dozens and dozens of recordings or actual live footage of them, "Them Crooked Vultures". Believe me, I will do just that in the coming days. As for Robert Plant, our "Dear" old Robert. Most of US know that he now holds the key to anything "New" or "Old" related to Led Zeppelin. I believe that HE holds the "old" (past) more favourably than the "New" (future). I know that I am not the "Only One" to say that this is most unfortunate. As much as I LOVE LED ZEPPELIN and would love to read, hear and especially see something new by Jimmy Page/Robert Plant/John Paul Jones/Jason Bonham, I think that we will all wait in Vain. It really breaks my Heart to think and say such things, however, We all know that these Great and Modern day Living Legends are not getting any younger. As a final note: Even though Led Zeppelin may never tour again, I have tickets to Robert Plant and the Band of Joy scheduled for July 23, 2010 at the Dallas, Texas Meyerson Symphony Hall. (I live in Plano, Texas, a very prosperous Dallas suburb about 25 miles north of Dallas proper). $113.19 for seats very close to the stage. I will be sure to try and communicate (somehow) with Robert Plant and relay to him how much HE is Loved and Worshipped by HIS fans.
georgio
Zeppelin ended a long time ago. Everything that came after Bonham - Live Aid, Atlantic Reunion, Page and Plant, O2 - was a tribute to the past. Page needs Zep more than Plant does. None of their solo achievements will ever eclipse Led Zeppelin, but none of them have anything left to prove. BonzoLikeDrumer
I for one would love to see the remaining guy's back together again. It's just not possible, they have other commitment's at this time. If I where Robert Plant I would rather share the stage with a good looking girl (it would make me look better I know) than some other geezer's!!! Ha Ha Ha Ha (I'm over 40 years old so I can say this) We may yet see another reunion but, at $100.00 and up ticket price, it's not possible for me to go and see them at my currant income level. I may be able to buy a DVD or some other merchandise from such a show/tour.
Ronen
Thanks to all the posts. i know zep can't be anymore, and i know there is no future only past, but i think the posts needs to be "now & the future", and not only at the past. I just asked why to speak only at the past? B.T.W: I understand everybody speak at the past beacuse they miss to the guys (i'm also miss them when they were together) and to the times zep was #1. Hello Ronen! For me Zeppelin was part of my past, is part of the present and will be in my future. I have loved this band for the majority of my life. I even love to hear STH even if it's been thousands of times that I have heard it It would be wonderful if they did anything together, though most likely not, we have this wonderful music that lives on to this day. Then to see all of the young people on this forum finding this music, asking questions, sharing the emotions that the music brings... I am sure their music will be around far into the future. IMHO to phrase that Zeppelin split is not the correct word. They lost a friend and one fourth of the band and decided that they could no longer be Led Zeppelin. For that, I have the utmost respect for them.

Hey Deborah - I think I get what you are saying, but Robert himself has used the word "split" many times in reference to what happened in 1980, so it seems correct to him. It's not an insult to the band or the tragic way in which their story came to an end.

Ronen
Hi Deborah, I know Zep is in your heart forever, also to me Zep was, now & will be in my heart forever. I know also all the fans here & out this site love them, otherwise we all weren't here at this "Zep" site. Of course STH is my #1 song in my heart, and i wait for them next reunion if it will be. I just say we can speak at the future as well as we speak at the past. Maybe the guys will hear us here, and give one or more concerts for old days. Wizard of Oz
Let me introduce myself. I am a Wizard of Oz. You know, "Down Under" (But always a "Day Ahead"). I sometimes am able to take a look into the 'Future', it ain't too hard, being from the Southern Hemisphere (the Hemisphere that Nostradamus couldn't forsee into) and sometimes I get into trouble because of it ...like getting kicked off Forums for freaking people out. My most recent was picking up that the NRL was gonna 'relocate/expand' the Cronulla Sharks to Adelaide. I was deemed insane and a drug-addict. So be it. I was right though: the NRL had been secretly planning to do so for 3 years. The people of Adelaide were insulted by the die-hard Sharks Fans and their attitude towards Adelaide and such 'change', so it might look like the Bulldogs might benefit instead. Anyway, lets get down to business - eh. Led Zeppelin will reform for one last 'original' album. It won't be anything to do with 'the old days' at all, on the contrary - it will be entirely focused upon taking the name of Led Zeppelin into the future after they a long gone. You might see some 'old' bands fighting out the title of the most long-lasting (eg: Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Aerosmith, etc), but you will never see Led Zeppelin perform again as you have 'known' it. What you will find, in the care of Jason Bonham, is the Led Zep come alive via the 'Illusion of Technology'. In other words, Led Zep are only now tinkering with new material that they will stow away like a time capsule and have it only brought back out into the public world after Jimmy, Robert and John have passed away. Will the album be called "Headstone"? Hard to say, I can't predict everything, but maybe someone else might add to the few jigsaw peices I have found? None the less, the last official album by Led Zeppelin will hit the charts with much success a few months after the final funeral of the original members. Hold on...I think I'm getting something else. Just adjust a channel for better reception...ok, I think I've got a late prophecy. > Jimmy, Robert & John arrange with the latest instrumentation. It is by no means their greatest music - but it is music that speaks like a gift to future musicians around the world. This album will be the album that allows them to climb that Stairway to Heaven. cheers, 'a' Wizard of Oz

Wizard of Oz
Sorry about that Zep Head. I try to soften things as much as possible. Luckily I am just an Acolyte so to speak, given only to random moments of insight. ledzepfvr
Mr. Wizard This ain't Kansas and you need to adjust that crystal ball abit!
Wizard of Oz
Of course not dear LedZepforever. Though I think Kansas is the cultural 'heart' of Namerica (North America:Canada/USA/Mexico) and is very well represented by the Airport there. "Nobody flies to Heaven as well as the American." (angleire scotwelsh) Usually I just look at the Globe of the Earth rather than some Hippy/Gypsy Crystal Ball (did you know there really is a difference between a Feral and a Hippy? I just returned from the north-west of the New Zealand South Island - a lot of Ferals there ...and then you go to Byron Bay in the north of NSW and find a lot of potty Hippies. Wonder if they might have a difference of opinion in the name of Art like the Union and the Confederacy in the name of Politics? Only 'suicide' will tell.). Did you know there are other 'global maps' rather than just the usual Political one provided in schools? Do you know the boundaries upon the world in relation to Art, Science, Medicine, Spirituality(Fashion), etc ? You will find the Military influence of Bolivia goes far beyond its 'political' border upon the Collins Atlas. Prophecy or Predilic-tion is a worthy thing. Mostly it is just common sense with the facts at hand. Like I said, just find some jigsaw peices... I once lived with one of the 'three original Anti-Apartheid South African dissidents', the other two got shot before making it to Australia in safety. He lost eyesight in one eye. He taught me much in the way of 'politics' and told me that Kevin Rudd will be our next Prime Minister and that was back in 2003. Kevin Rudd was just a Back-bencher - a nobody. Sure enough, he became PM in a very overwhelming and popular way. ...now if only I can predict those Lotto numbers. Led Zeppelin: There is always a 'future' for Led Zeppelin. Wizard of Oz
If you think that I'm 'wrong', then quite possibly, you may be right. ...there will be no 'original' album released after the final (original) member of Led Zeppelin is dead. Why? Because they just aren't good enough to achieve such a feat. Only the Greatest Band in the World could achieve such a feat: to live on in the Halls of Valhalla, you could say.
