I don't get the Lady Gaga hype!

Everyone seems to love Lady Gaga. I don't get it. Her music is terrible imo, and ANYONE can dress weird to get attention. Yes, I've heard she writes some of her music so I give her credit for that but overall, she's a creation (like a lot other pop artists of this era). Someone teaches her how to dance, dress, etc. Christ, she was a MTV reality star wannabe five years ago (there's vids of her on youtube). The funny part is that people get all riled up when I say I don't like her music at all. They try to convince me of her greatness. I don't hate her or anything, but I don't get the hype. Now the big names are jamming with her. Am I the only who thinks Gaga sucks?

Lady Gaga is this generations Madonna. I think most of the stuff I've heard is pretty good, just have to get past the oddity of the outfits. Hell, my 75 year old dad likes her.

Since she paid her tribute :P , she doesn't bother me anymore

(of course, I still don't like her and I don't think she have a very good musical ear -there are young stars with much better voice and less exposure- , but, like Rock N' Rollin' Man said, I simply avoid her.... although sometimes, when children are taking over my computer and all they search is Lady Gaga on YT, and then they dance lascively on that music, I feel the need to slap them very hard  )

I think people are just so bored with their lives that anything different excites them. My life isn't very exciting but I don't get attracted to crappy music. I'm sure she is a cool person but the LG character/music stinks imho. Plus, she's kinda cute in that video. Now she looks a tranny with way too much makeup on.

She wasn't an MTV reality star wannabe, she was on that show randomly. Boiling Points is a show that takes unsuspecting people and tries to annoy them to the point where they get really pissed off and curse but if they don't they get like $100. She lived in NYC, she just happened to be at a restaurant where the show was being filmed. But ANYWAY, I used to not understand her either and think that she was just a manufactured piece of crap. But after I came across a video of her playing an acoustic version of one of her songs and looked into her a little more, I was blown away by her talent. I love her so much now, which is shocking to alot of people who know me, but she is truly a great and talented musician. And by the way she writes ALL of her own music and nobody tells her how to dress or dance or anything. I love her for being different. She's written songs for other artists as well. Look up some of her acoustic stuff on youtube. She has a great voice and is a great pianist. Here are some of my favorite videos of her. If you still don't like her after watching them that's ok but her talent is undeniable, imo.

"Fooled Me Again/Honest Eyes" (She sings a little Neil Young right in the beginning)

"Paparazzi"

"Imagine" (Lennon cover, beautiful rendition imo)

She's the real deal and is one of very few artists these days who I believe actually deserve the attention they get.

I don't care if she writes her stuff, plays instruments, learns her own dance moves, does Zep covers, etc, I still think her music is horrible. The whole "weirdness" thing is actually boring to me. Why do people feel like they have defend her and recruit other like me into digging her? I mean there are people who feel the same way about Zep. She's a bunch of hype imo and can't see myself ever digging her as an artist. Doesn't make me wrong either. It's apples and oranges. To each their own.

P.S. After watching those videos, I think it's her voice that grates one me (esp. when she switches to her gruffer side). Overrated.

I was just correcting you. You said she writes some of her music, that someone teaches her how to dress and dance and that she was a wannabe reality star which is all false. And that's fine if you don't like her I just think that many people judge her based on her looks and what they hear on the radio but she is more than that. By the way I'm not trying to "recruit" you, I just wanted to show that she is not what she appears to be. As I said before, it's ok if you don't like her but her talent is undeniable.

I think she is undeniably talented, her music is incredibly catchy (much more so than Madonna's in my opinion) and she's actually NOT told what to do and how to dance etc - she's her own creation. Her live show is stunning and she has actually been financing it herself because the size of the production - unprecedented in most places it has played - makes it impossible to make a profit from, but she WANTS to give her audience that kind of show, which I think is admirable.

However, in my opinion she is a mature artist who's music is meant for grown-up ears and it horrifies me how many parents let their little kids listen to her and watch her. I felt the same way about Madonna, Prince and Eminem - I really wish parents would be more responsible in this area.

Well I think what she does is just cheap pop!! And her clothes are just something to attract atention and she gives the clothes way to much importance, but the music should be the important thing and the first thing every musician should care about!!

She does have a good voice(better then Madonna) and she can accompany herself on the piano, like many musicians, but that doesn't make her music good and i'm not just disqualifying her, because i mostly like rock. I think her pop is just very, very cheap and plastic.

And I noticed she is constantly doing piano versions of her songs and they end up on youtube and that is suppose to make her music better?? Many, many musicians, can accompany themselves on piano, so that really doesn't change anything.

And her clothes are just ridicioulus and i think it would be the best, if she just starts going around naked, when she runs out of ideas and her dancing is nothing special either, just look at Poker face, she just makes some sort of silly hand moves!!

And the lyrics are also pure crap!! And she is completely fabricated. She was like acting like a total popstar form the beggining, before she was even famous, because that's her attitude and yet i think great stars should be easy going and cool about themselves and they ussualy are!!

So I think she is crap!!

I don't think her works nearly as strong as Madonna's early stuff personally which was much catchier and actually somewhat at the forefront of music bringing the NY club sound to the masses.

Generally modern pop music is far more image focused than it was back in the 80's IMHo, the rise of alternative rock took away the more serious listeners and your left with kids and those who are interested more to celeb culutre than music.

Hello:

I like the show on Much Music called VIDEO ON TRIAL...they critiqued TELEPHONE...I laughed so hard...I think I will keep all my pop can tabs and make some jewelery in honour of this tune since my hair is not long enough to roll up with pop cans...

I can't stand her. I think she's awful. Her lyrics are garbage. But then I saw her ass, and my god, I could eat it. Look at this picture, just do it:

Wow. What do you think of that? I just hope "she" doesn't turn out to be a man. :(

I think it looks like an uncomfortable wedgie!!

I don't know why rock fans get upset by pop artists. They're not rock artists, what pop artists do is meant for a mass market that is somewhat disposable. If it's not Lady Gaga being criticized it's Taylor Swift lol. I'm not fan of either but they're certainly less offensive than most "supposed" rock artists of today & the past. Green Day I find offensive. It's watered down punk rock dressed up as rebellion with social commentary. They're hacks. They're just one example of what passes as "real" music these days.

That thing gaga....i was channel surfing one day i and saw her wearing a bear skin with the head and all. It's like you mixed in a blender a bad pop singer, Marilyn Manson, a white roach and some condiments and then you drank it and you threw up...and wow gaga appeared....
