Wolfman
I saw the man himself tonight, Jeff Beck, at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ. Went solo and still had a blast. The place was sold out and the opening act, Imelda May, was pretty good. The few songs I caught she did were kinda of a honky tonk rock. Jeff came on around 9pm. He was dressed in a black vest with a white sleeveless shirt (and sunglasses). Kinda what he seems to always wear lately. He proved over and over why many (including myself) think he is the cream of the crop of his contemporaries. His band was just fantastic with winning producer and songwriter, Narada Michael Walden on drums, the sexy Rhonda Smith on bass, and Jason Rebello on keyboards. I think you really have to hear JB's tone live to appreciate him. Really enjoyed "People Get Ready" which involved a very nice long jam with each member taking a turn soloing, the beautiful "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"' and of course, the mind-blowing version of the Beatles' "A Day In The Life". Crowd went nuts through out the show and Jeff ended it with his usual blowing of talcum powder into the air. By the way, I liked his version of "I Want To Take You Higher" better than the version I saw him do with Eric Clapton at MSG in February. Very funky. Also, the second encore was a tribute to Les Paul with Jeff playing a emerald green Les Paul. He sounded fucking awesome on it. He really should play one more often. Great show. Don't miss Jeff if he is playing near you. I just saw him on June 11th here in Atlanta and I agree, he has to be seen live to really appreciate the sound he gets from a guitar. He looks fantastic. The man has made his own sound and it is an amazing one! He always knows how to put together a great band to play with as well.

SelfDevouringSnake
I saw him at Wolf Trap in Virginia two Mondays ago. I'm pretty young, but it blew away every other concert I've seen by a longshot.
