Virginia
I don't really have one, but IMO, other than Zeppelin of course, Golden Earring is the best band to listen to while driving
Swede
Flying Burrito Brothers - Gilded Palace Of Sin Merle Haggard - Mama Tried and my home made 60's garage punk rock compilations.
Stargroves Tangie
I usually listen to homemade compilations I've burned, but currently my fave driving album is Them Crooked Vultures.
Rock N' Rollin' Man
Yeah homemade compilations are great too. Most of mine are of hard rock.
kaiser
I tend to make mixed CD's for driving or for work. I guess "Exile On Main Street" as far as a complete album though. It's just conducive to driving.
alinds
Depends on the distance but for a nice, long drive it's got to be Modest Mouse's "A Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About".
Starbreaker
As of right now: Unleashed in the East - Judas Priest Kill 'Em All - Metallica Ride The Lightning - Metallica Show No Mercy - Slayer Side 1 of "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?" - Megadeth While driving down to Charleston, SC, I put on the first four Metallica albums (Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and ...And Justice For All) back to back to back to back. That truly was awesome!
Tripmender
Side 1 of "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?" - Megadeth What's wrong with side 2?!? Ok, Superstitious is a little lame, but the rest is a Bloody Hammer Fest! I like a relaxed sing-along sometimes. Joe's Garage Act 1 is always good for a laugh. "It looks just like a Telefunken U-47"...

kaiser
And Rock N' Rollin' Man, you're absolutely right about "Powerage". "Sin City" & "Down Payment Blues" are just meant to be blasted from a car on a long desolate stretch of road.
zdr
+1 for INXS And RHCP's Californication And Zeppelin. Lots and lots of Zeppelin.. Edited August 11, 2010 by zdr
Swede
To be honest, I don't think my driving music is much different than what I'm listening to at home.. Though I tend to bring the records I've mentioned with me when driving.
Kiwi_Zep_Fan87
Its so weird....I hate listening to Led Zep while driving...its because of the fact that I won't be able to give every vocal, every beat, every guitar riff and every bass and key board note my 100%, undivided attention! :D And also, whenever I listen to a Led Zep song, I sometimes tell the people around me to shut up and stop talking so that I can pretty much concentrate on the song! LOL! That's how obsessed I am!

dazedcat
Early Carlos Santana music............anything from the first three albums actually. There's something about bombing down the New York State Thruway listening to "Everybody's Everything".

Carlos, for some reason made me think of Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass, and I know those early albums are cool to drive and jam to.
