I had to look those guys up.. LOL. My aim was not against your post. I am a fan of John Coltrane although I haven't got that many records by him.

Numerous Robert Johnson songs that were covered by rock artists such as:

Crossroads - Cream

Love In Vain - Rolling Stones

Stop Breaking Down - Rolling Stones

When I hear the originals they sound like the same song with different words, but I'm glad these other artists saw something in them and made them their own.

99.9% of Zeppelin's covers are better than the originals.

I prefer Joan Baez's version of Babe I'm Gonna Leave You. I think her voice is better suited for that track than Plant's, although LZ's version isn't bad either.

Oh, I'm sure there are a lot of them.....

Not that the original is bad, in any way....

But, I do like Guns & Roses version better, than the original by Paul McCartney.
