Toni_R_4_Robert
Given the extent to which it subsequently transmogrified into a bona fide 60-ton rabbit in LZ's live repertoire, is anyone aware of the reason why WLL's inital live airings in April/May 1969 were not repeated until January 1970 - apart from the odd 'teaser' riff, usually in How Many More Times but occasionally elsewhere? Juxtapose this with, say, Heartbreaker and WIAWSNB which, following their introduction in October 69 (contemporaneous with the release of LZ2), immediately became staples of the live set. One can perhaps speculate that, in realization of the monster they had on their hands, Zepp would have wished to keep this veritable behemoth under wraps until the release of LZ2, but why did it not then feature in the set alongside the aforementioned (and arguably lesser) duo in the fall of 69? Yupter
The band might have just wanted to "test the waters" perhaps. Much like they did with Misty Mountain Hop in '71, and Black Country Woman in '72. It took two years until MMH came out again and five for BCW. Edit: Also, they might have thought it just didn't fit in the setlist at the time. Edited July 28, 2010 by Yupter
