uclan
Is there anyone from Lancashire going to the gig tonight? We're trying to interview someone who will be attending the show to tell us how excited they are and any other feelings for a student radio show. If you could reply to this and let us know ASAP. Thanks!

Thanks! Our good forum chum Chicken has been fortunate enough to obtain a ticket, and she hails from that part of the world (as do I). I'm sure that she will be posting a post-gig review on here, so keep your eyes peeled. I'm afraid I'm not prepared to forward her contact info without her permission though! Chicken
All these towns mean something to me! I was born in Blackpool, moved to Lancaster when I was 12, went to college in Preston, my boyfriend and my best mate lived in Chorley for a couple of years, and then I moved to Salford a few years ago for uni. Even though that's technically Greater Manchester now, but still. I am a Lancashire lass through and through. Anyway, here's my review: MySpace Blog. Northern Monkey
Chorley bloke here (Chorley High street is always 10 degress colder than the rest of the world), but now living up the road from Boleskine...........yikes! Great review Chicken, I am extremely jealous. Camden is great, back in the day when I was living in London there was a guy with a stall there who I used to buy all my 'specialist' recordings from , used to pop down every Sunday, havent been for years. I don't suppose you've seen any of the movie "Chorley: Where People Go To Fight"? I watched it at Chorley Little Theatre the other week...it's just an independent film. It was pretty much hilarious! You'll probably get a good laugh out of it if you can track any of it down! Anyway...thanks. I think Camden might be my new spiritual home. Well, one of. I found it a bit hard to admit to myself that it's like, about 5 times better than Affleck's Palace in Manchester.
One Symbol
Camden Lock & market are fantastic! What can't be bought there just isn't worth owning... Anyway, what's all this talk of Chorley? Anyone knows that Fleetwood is the most happening place in the North-West!

One Symbol
The best kebab shop in the North is in Chorley, but I'm damned if I can remember it's name!

Have you been to that ice cream shop at the end of Cunliffe Street? Fucking well good! And apparently Chorley Fried Chicken (comedy genius in itself) does a mean pizza! One Symbol
Chorley Fried Chicken? Oh, that's just genius! Caz - I've not been to Chorley in ages, but I have spent many a happy, sozzled night there...normally ending the evening in the aforementioned kebab emporium. I've just read all this back...I'm not sure this is what the original poster had in mind. Edited December 13, 2007 by One Symbol

Northern Monkey
Christ this is developing into the Chorley thread. Havent been back since 1983. Back in the late 70's there used to be a pub we would frequent called the Joiners Arms which was a fantastic place, live music and the landlord didnt mind you skinning up. To this day I have never seen as many dodgy charecters in one place.......and beleieve me I have frequented some seriously dodgy places. My boyfriend's band have been on Chorley FM a few times now. Oh, the fame!
One Symbol
Good for Bob! Whilst were at it, I think it's only fair to mention the much misunderstood & maligned Clitheroe (watch that pronounciation, you Americans!). It has a castle & the best sausage shop in the North - see here: http://www.cowmans.co.uk/index.htm I ask you, what more does anyone really need? coogeeboy
This is brilliant. My Mum was born in Chorley & she used to live in Grime St. I'll get there one day.

Right then... For those Yorkshire types with short memories: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_the_roses Of course I have to be careful about mentioning my Lancastrian heritage, particularly as I now live in Penistone!
