Barrett-Jackson Car Auction Entertains in Las Vegas for Charities

The 3rd Annual Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas Auction began today and will run through Saturday, September 25th. This annual event raises a lot of cash and benefits numerous local and national charities. Exotics and collector cars from around the world find their way to the auction block to benefit worthy causes each year.Among the most notable of vehicles are a 2008 Bugatti Veyron and 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren convertible, and five Ferrari's (1988 Testarossa, 1994 Spyder, 2000 Maranello, 1999 F-1 Spyder and 2003 GT).

At 253 mph, the Crown Jewel of Sports Cars

Considered the crown jewel of exotic collector cars, the 2008 Bugatti is number 80 of only 300 produced. Upon its introduction in 2008, it was the fastest production car in the world, rated at 1,001 horsepower, a top speed of 253 mph and a 0-to-60 clockspeed of 2.47 seconds. A proverbial rocket on wheels.

A few of the classic American cars at the auction include a 1957 Chevrolet 'Black Widow' NASCAR racer, a 1985 Camaro that is autographed by over 100 artists from the Live Aid Concert (Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Tom Petty, Carlos Santana, Bo Diddley among others) as well as the #2 2011 Camaro convertible off the production line at GM.

The 2009 Barrett-Jackson car auction witnessed over 400 cars produced $23 million in sales over 19 hours.

The Barrett-Jackson Auction Company was established in 1971 in Scottsdale, Arizona and was originally named for Tom Barrett and Russ Jackson (both deceased).
