Magic Fills the Air
My favourite, Anthony Minghella (Truly, Madly, Deeply, The English Patient, The Talented Mr Ripley), sadly no longer with us. I also like Jane Campion (The Piano, Bright Star) and Peter Weir (Dead Poets Society, Witness, Master and Commander). I liked George Lucas when he did the original Star Wars films, but the new ones were are a travesty of the originals and a real let down in my opinion, and I haven't forgiven him! Magic Fills the Air
I'm really the first person to say Kubrick, really? Kubrick is hit and miss for me personally. I agree he's a great director and 2001: A Space Odyssey is one of my favourite films. Eyes Wide Shut though was awful.
redrum
Kubrick is hit and miss for me personally. I agree he's a great director and 2001: A Space Odyssey is one of my favourite films. Eyes Wide Shut though was awful. A while back on TV they showed his film 'Killer's Kiss' and I think it's a classic in the film noir style. My only ?? is why he took the girl back after she finked on him. But the New York locations make the film along with the black & white. The fight in the mannequin room is intense. 4 stars on the redrum-o-meter.

redrum
I'm further shocked at the lack of Woody Allen up in here. Well, tell us about Woodrow. Last one I saw by him was 'Broadway Danny Rose' I just loves the black & white and the New York locations.
