Lee
Just returned from Japan, where I added another couple of boots to my collection, Bonzo's Last Stand & Osaka '71. I was tempted by Burn Like a Candle, but decided against it this time round, due to expense, even if it was a 'limited edition' with free t-shirt (which almost certainly wouldn't fit!). Anyone have any opinions on this? I couldn't help thinking I already have some of this anyway on HTWWW, and I could always just find a torrent, I suppose. Always nice to have 'the real thing', but at close to £100 at current exchange rates, a bit too steep for me right now. Giving serious consideration to Snow Jobs next time, ditto, what does the team think? Lee
beetleron
why even bother unless the thing you have to burn is money the material is already out there
Flyingzepp
Snow Jobs is a MUST. Thats awesome you went to Japan, I'd love to visit Japan someday myself. Neat story, but yeah, why are 'buying' these shows? I mean yeah, seeing them in a store in Japan - I would buy them too if the price isn't that bad, but if your interested in more shows, google is your friend. chillumpuffer
Burn Like A Candle is perhaps the best show i have ever heard. I remember hearing this years ago and as is always the case it gets remastered and re packaged from time to time. A Night at the Heartbrteak hotel is a very good version. HTWWW in my opinion ruined this. It removed any feeling of the live show completely. Why no Plantations? OK it is a mix of 2 shows but there's no taking away that a complete audience recording captures the feel of when the boys were on electric form from the tapers point of view. 4 Encoures, the crowd going nuts and you can almost smell the sweet smell of grass drifting from the speakers on the june evening in LA. I mean listen to Thank You and tell me how can that be left out of HTWWW? Jimmy's solo is so good. Snow Jobs - a fantastic, professionally mixed board recording from 1975. Should be in everyones collection

Should be in everyones collection Definitely, agree with you regarding Thank You. One of the best versions ever, if not the best. I definitely miss the Plantations from HTWWW. Especially, during the encores right before The Ocean when Plant is telling one guy in the front to stop antagonizing others around him. Captures the feel of the show. "If everybody keeps it cool, we can play here all night!"
andyk
why even bother unless the thing you have to burn is money the material is already out there Inclined to agree, unless you have money to burn. I have a few 'silver' CDs from the days when you could pick them up for £15/20 plus a few CDRs from when you could pick them up on Ebay, but pretty much anything you might want can be found for free download (not just on torrent sites) doesn't really take much searching. It's nice to have CDs to hold and look at, but it's the music that counts so save your money to buy petrol/pay increased VAT. By the way Snow Jobs is excellent, well worth acquiring, Burn Like a Candle is also pretty good. Just in case you haven't come across it, this is a great source of information http://uuweb.led-zeppelin.us/index.htm Andy
Lee
Thanks for the info, people...I agree, probably makes more sense to download this stuff, but for these two in particular, I may be hitting the stores on my next visit. Mu usual haunt is a shop called Blind Faith in Shinjuku, Tokyo - any other recommendations? Blind Faith is so packed with Zep stuff I can't imagine there's much they don't have though!
