The Golden Gate Bridge cable cars Alcatraz (if that's officially part of San Fran) dirty hippies--- the original 49-ers--Gold Rush style giving Mark Twain a home for a few years The Painted Ladies of San Francisco The world's most crooked street--Lombard Street (google it if you don't know what it is) My first glimpse of the Pacific Ocean (or any ocean for that matter) foggy mornings and nights street vendors near Pier 39 my first vacation outside of my home state (my mom grew up in San Jose, so we visited San Fran the first time I ever went on a "real" vacation) my first touch of a palm tree! (I loved them for years afterward) Candlestick Park (though technically it was in Oakland...) BART my first sunset over the ocean my first stay in a "hotel," (Hey--it was a clean Motel 6 and I was 9, I wasn't too hard to impress) My first visit to the opera (Phantom of the Opera when I was in high school on a school trip) my first road trip without my mom (it was a school trip--I had teachers instead of parents...) I saw the shot in the show too once they broadcast it. It was amazing how short it was for all the time and effort they put into that one scene.
