Fool In The Rain 60 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) Just heard on the news "Andy Grey" football pundit has been sacked from his 2 million a year job. Was he being sexiest, after all it was a private comment. Or is there more too it ? Or are we just too sensitive? Edited January 25, 2011 by Fool In The Rain 60 Quote
BIGDAN Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Just heard on the news "Andy Grey" football pundit has been sacked from his 2 million a year job. Was he being sexiest, after all it was a private comment. Or is there more too it ? Or are we just too sensitive? "FOOTBALL IS A MAN'S GAME" Or so I was always told, so Women should be allowed to Support Football but not be involved in it, apart from the St John's Ambulance Brigade that is, and of course cut up the oranges and making the tea. But as Football has evolved as society has to welcome and encourage Women as well as Foreigners in to the game then Andy Grey was being Sexist, as well as getting it wrong, the Lady Linesman got it spot on, the guy was "On Side" and she made that decision in a split second and without all the Million Pound Equipment that the Two Pundit Wankers had at their disposal. As for him getting the Sack I say Good Riddance, they both have over inflated egos about their Knowledge of the Game and their importance. If a Woman can do the Job as well as a Man then Good for Her, and at the very least it might reign in all those clowns/players/managers who disrespect the Referee and Linesmen, and there's nothing like seeing a Girl with good legs running up and down the line, better than seeing all those overinflated egos of children prancing about and diving to get an edge. I would rather watch Women's Footie anyway, they play the game as it should be played, with Pride and Honour, and the Kissing is more acceptable when it two Women isn't it Boys? Kind Regards, Danny Quote

Hmm well its difficult as I guess all of us say things behind closed doors that we wouldn't say out loud so to speak, unless ya BIGDAN that is , but the thing is I have never ever liked the trio of Andy "cashew face" Gray, Martin "omg the dullest voice in football commentry ever" Tyler and Richard "grease chin" Keys., although out the three Gray was the best of them. I say just get rid of the other two for being irritating beyond even "The Sensibles" Iguess how would Gray feel if Keys off camera was saying ah that twat of a jock etc ?? he might be upset a bit, its not nice saying" hey you can put that battery pack down me Hassanachs" to some people. ally Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Rather stupid of both commentators to get themselves involved in this. I don't know about getting the sack but regardless, in this day and age, both should have known better. As for women being officials ...why not ! If your good enough to be there then who cares. If a player or manager feels they may have a problem handing out a verbal tirade to a female official then maybe they should make all officials female . I for one would not be sorry to see these childish tirades stop . Quote

Fool In The Rain 60 Posted January 25, 2011 Author Posted January 25, 2011 Andy Grey made some comments last year as well, not sure if it was about a women co- worker. So maybe they have got rid of him before they get sued by "The Sexism Police". Would women be accepted as officials in the "World Cup"?. Personally don't care who the Officials are, as long as they get it right. Sian Massey will now not be "Running The Line" tonight at Gresty Road Ground. Why ? The Press maybe Quote

Actually, Danny, that thought did cross my mind. Don't worry, there's plenty more where that came from! Kiwi and I are trying to improve the quality of the images posted on the 'beautiful women' thread. Back on topic, I know nothing whatsoever about football, so I have no idea what everyone's talking about! Edited January 25, 2011 by Magic Fills the Air Quote
ally Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 . Sian Massey will now not be "Running The Line" tonight at Gresty Road Ground. Why ? The Press maybe I heard that she pulled out on her own but either way, given all the media attention with the firing, I think it wise that she not do a game tonight. Once the dust has settled she'll be back . Just a side note. her decision not to call offside on the weekend was spot on ! You'd think with the benefit of replay and slow motion, the TV boys would have seen that. Quote

Hi Ally, I think they both jumped the gun, they didn't like the fact that a Woman (with sexy legs ) was allowed to be a linesman at such a high level of the game and be as good if not better than any man, and both caught "Foot in the Mouth Disease" at the same time. One should always engage Ones Brain before Opening Ones Mouth in my opinion, and I'm a Prime example of that. Very Kind Regards, Danny Quote
BIGDAN Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) Pssst, does anyone really know the "Off Side Rule"? I for one could never understand it, it should be like a "Commandment" but it has always be open to Interpretation and the Referee to use His Discretion and this is what has caused so much banter and trouble and confusion over the years, much like the take on "Hand Ball" was it Ball to Hand or Hand to Ball? (was he just scratching His Nuts or was he being Overtly Friendly towards His Scotch Eggs? ) was it deliberate or done on purpose? Still it makes Football the Game that is still talked about weeks later and this is what keeps interest in it, without the controversy it would not be the game of the Masses it is would it? Very Kind Regards, Danny Me too ! I feel bad for Sian Massey as there was enough pressure on her without all that has transpired and from what I've read at least, she sounds more than willing to accept a personal apology and be done with it. . Comments were made, penalty dished out...time to get on with the game. For her sake, I hope it does Quote
BIGDAN Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 They say that Andy Grey is a "Sexist" but how can this be? Gray was married twice before, to Vanessa Taylor and Jacqueline Cherry. He has fathered five children, by four different women - his two ex-wives and former girlfriends Sara Matthews and Janet Trigg. I think Mr Grey has attempted to Satisfy as many Women as he possibly can and has made quite a job of it don't you think? Kiwi_Zep_Fan87 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) I have mixed feelings about this whole sexism incident. First of all, on what grounds was Andy Gray given the sack? He did make private comments, didn't he? And my question is : "what on earth did he say which was so awful?". I do not think I can judge the man because I have absolutely no idea what was said which proved to be so "out of line". So, if someone could enlighten me on the comments this man made, then perhaps I'll begin the whole process of putting on my thinking cap and actually get down to analysing as to whether he in fact can be classified as a "sexist pig". Secondly, if Andy Gray had dissed a male referee in a similar fashion, would he have been given the sack? I'm bringing this point up, because there are expressions like "learning to take it like a man". People can argue that if women demand equality in every sphere of life, including a so-called "man's game" like football, they shouldn't be so sensitive about things and should indeed learn to toughen up! Eventhough, I am a woman myself, I heartily agree with this argument. This incident of a commentator not being able to keep his trap shut (be it in the context of public consumption right from the commentary box or in private), reminds me of the nasty comment Geoffrey Boycott once made, right there on live television about Pakistani batsman Inzamam Ul Haq while Pakistan was playing an ODI. He described Inzaman as "an elephant running down the pitch". I thought that was pretty nasty on Boycott's part. But did Boycott get the sack?! I think not! Some of you might ask me this : "What about the whole Dean Jones incident?" Well, he did mention the extremely sensitive word "terrorist" and he was referring to a South African cricketer belonging to the Islamic community. To me, calling someone "an elephant" and calling someone "a terrorist" are both equally offensive. Afterall, in both cases, you are harshly criticising a person's attributes, which to me is unfair and un-called for. I wonder why Boycott and Dean Jones didn't receive the same treatment! Perhaps people classified Boycott's comments as a "funny joke about fat people" while Dean Jones was condemned for "discrimination and stereotyping"? All in all, I don't wish to term Andy Gray as "sexist" until I actually get wind of what actually was said about that female refree! In the midst of this whole "sexism" incident, I tend to admire women like Amy Fearn! Edited January 26, 2011 by Kiwi_Zep_Fan87 Quote

We the Public have had enough of Foreign Piss Takers as Players, Managers and Pundits, enough is enough, We want someone, anyone, who we can understand. We the Public cannot afford to pay for a Translator ever time we watch a Football Match on TV. Keys was every bit as guilty as Grey, in fact more so, he was the catalyst and the one who started all the sexist banter, he encouraged Grey as much as he could until Grey fell in to the trap, get rid of Keys as well and start afresh.
