ledzepfvr
Heard this on the news today. Would love to stop in for a spot of tea if I ever get to NYC Physical Graffiti Site to Become Led Zeppelin-Themed Tea Shop An iconic building in New York Citys East Village, which served as the subject of one of rocks great album covers, is undergoing a facelift. The building at 96 St. Marks Place was made famous in 1975 when designer Peter Corriston and cover artist Mike Doud photographed it (and the neighboring 98 St. Marks Place) for the cover of Led Zeppelins Physical Graffiti album. The building later served as the backdrop of The Rolling Stones Waiting on a Friend video. Over the years, the building has housed a variety of establishments, most recently a vintage boutique. Now, the shop is being reinvented once again, in full celebration of its Zeppelin connection. The new store, Physical Graffi-tea, will be a tea emporium specializing in loose lea blends and powdered Japanese matcha. The store is scheduled to open in March. There is no word, at this time, on any specialized custard pies, wanton soup or lemon squeezes. Tea for one, though, seems a likely menu choice. http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/News/physical-graffiti-0207-2011/
SuperDave
Thanks. I saw this online earlier today. Should be interesting, by continuing the Zep theme. Hopefully they'll do as the article suggests with some Zep related names on the menu.
Stargroves Tangie
Being a Zep fan, I always thought it might be a cool place to live someday. I finally went there in 2008 and while I was taking pics of the outside, an old guy came out of the building- I thought about asking him what the inside was like, did he know that it's on a Led Zeppelin album cover, etc. but didn't. He didn't look happy- probably he's been bugged about it before.
ledzepfvr
I love afternoon tea as do alot of folks, so hopefully this endeavor will be successful. I think they would be missing the boat if they do not branch into food items that play on the names of songs.
Magic Fills the Air
A Zeppelin themed tea shop sounds like a great idea for that iconic building. If I ever went to NY that's the first place I'd be visiting. I'd probably have a 'Zeppelin special': a hotdog, followed by a custard pie, with lemonade made with freshly squeezed lemons! ledded1
Well there was no evidence of anything happening with the building when I was there the weekend before last.

The only one I could come up with was Out On The Tea-iles. Thanks Strargroves Tangie: Too bad I missed you two weeks ago during Dave's interviews. Hopefully another time we'll meet up! That's a good one you came up with. Didn't think of that. It was me and a few friends of mine. We emailed these back and forth yesterday. We had some fun with it as we should. They're all Zep fans, but not hardcore like myself. But all of them would have Zep as one of their faves. Some are reaaly good and others are ridiculous or silly but worth a laugh. I think the Tea Shop will have plenty to go on if they are original and check out this thread...

xdreduardx
I was there on 4.24.2011 and the tea house has been opened for 3 days. Great little tea shop! Not much in terms of LZ memorabilia, and I was trying to get the owner to at least make a T-Shirt. Very quaint tea shop with excellent tea blends. I am in the neighborhood often, so I will submit SuperDave's Tea List to the owner, she likes LZ (along with Pink Floyd). Peace.

MINI_Zoso
Fantastic list SuperDave and other contributors. What a hoot that I am sipping my favorite afternoon tea as I read about this for the first time. King Cole, if anyone has heard of that one before. What a hoot that I am sipping my favorite afternoon tea as I read about this for the first time. King Cole, if anyone has heard of that one before. I saw it on sale today, only to realize I paid 20 cents more for an extra 180 tea bags from even the sale price. I have enough tea for a very serious tea party.
