f2walsh
Streamline Zeppelin...no long drum solo, keyboard solos, or guitar solos. I wish it would have made it across the pond! 1980 produced some great shows!

DavidZoso
I think Zurich and Frankfurt are good. Like the encores of Berlin too. I also defend the 1980 tour. Yes there are some rusty spots but take a listen to Vienna's 6-26-80 -Trampled Underfoot and Kashmir- two of the best versions I have ever heard for any year. Kashmir having to wait just for a count in from Bonzo instead of the segue from White Summer/Black Mountainside because a fan threw a firecracker at Jimmy's face and they halted the concert for a little while, but it didn't happen the performance whatsoever. The only drawback came during Rock and Roll when Jimmy's guitar and JPJ's bass cut out from technical issues. Also the version of Achilles Last Stand from Munich is a great version. PIPPIN
The music scene had changed by this time period (late seventies)... punk was the new thing and the days of the bloated rock star were numbered. Jimmy Page tried to stay hip to what was going on with the punk scene and tried to connect with young fans (e.g cutting out all the excessive solos) Interesting how the Rain Song was in the set in 1980 and yet missing from 1977. A little bit non-punk...
