KK Downing Leaves Judas Priest

It's not really a farewell tour, just the last world tour they'll be doing.

K.K. Downing press release

Dear friends,

It is with much regret that I will not be with you this summer. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your concerns about my health. Please rest assured that I am O.K.

There has been an ongoing breakdown in working relationship between myself, elements of the band, and the band's management for some time.

Therefore I have decided to step down rather than to tour with negative sentiments as I feel that this would be a deception to you, our cherished fans.

However I would urge you to please support the Priest as I have no doubt that it will be a show not to be missed.

All my love and respect,

Yes it is a farewell tour its been stated by the band...http://judaspriest.com/news/fullstory.asp?id=05E3D999-903B-49F0-A8D2-C4A2431C9B2D

Now mind you with KK gone now, they may decide to not hang it up yet as he was the one who wanted to end it in the first place.

Yes, but since that statement they seem to have changed their stance slightly.

"To put everyone's mind at rest, this is by no means the end of the band. In fact, we are presently writing new material, but we do intend this to be the last major world tour."

"last major world tour" doesn't mean they won't tour at all.

Agreed. I actually figured that as soon as i heard KK left. They may write some stuff now. Also an album was already planned in the works to be released after they finish the Epitaph tour. Whats great about that is it can't be a rock opera and it can't be a commercial cash in like Turbo....so I figure the next album they release will be another success like Angel of Retribution...Cept maybe more painkiller esque tracks. Oh and Heres to hoping they play Cathedral Spires from Jugulator...

This makes me so sad. I was planning on trying to get tickets to see Judas Priest on the Epitaph tour but now I'm not so sure since I won't get to see KK Downing and Glen Tipton work onstage as a team in person. This makes makes me very sad. :(
