All these photos were taken by Laurance Ratner who put out the book- Led Zeppelin-Live Dreams.

I LOVE the 73 tour! All four on top of their game despite JPJ sometimes looking as if he has had enough of the tour.

What happened to the top photo? Who decided Robert should be in red? Not that I am complaining. He does look good in the color.

The 73 tour was good, but that's when Robert's voice started to become raspy. I prefer '71 - '72 Zeppelin.

I have that Ratner book, "Live Dreams", too...you have to be gentle with it so the cover doesn't get messed up.

David, it looks like Laurence tinted the second photo...the one where it looks like Robert is wearing a red top and jeans?

It is nice that all this new stuff is finally coming out...better late than never. Or after I am dead.

The Second shot with Robert in red, is actually shot in Hi-Speed Ektachrome Infrared film. The colors get distorted based on the light frequencies, and other factors, including body heat, and the stage lighting. Only Ratner and Neil Preston ever shot Infrared on Zeppelin. There's only a handful of shots in existence from either. Ratner also shot Emerson,Lake and Palmer in Infrared.

The Fourth shot, of Jimmy with the Double-Neck, was a B&W Tri-X 400 shot, and was chosen for a hand-tint treatment with Marshall inks. Ratner used a Chicago artist to do the treatment. It offers a different take on the image.
