Anybody have info on this photo? Posted by admin, but don't see it on this thread. Is that Bonzo? Hmm. Never seen this one, I've seen all the others on the web from Pontiac but not this one.

Thanks

Edit: its also on the Zeppelin Photo Mysteries thread. Bonzo goofing off with a bass.

This was recently discussed in another thread, and the consensus is the on stage goofing around occurred prior to the encores.

I still cannot believe we don’t have a single photo, from the audience at the Pontiac show, of the screen in use.

I’ve seen the pre-show pictures of the stage setup from afar, but nothing of it in use.

Surprising given the number in attendance!

Not understanding -- is this some kind of 'hoarding' talk?  Anyway, found this on google.

Interesting. I've never seen any images like this on google. How far did you have to search to find it?

rare shot from Pontiac

Never seen this before. So they used 3 handheld cameras. If the footage exists it could be more diverse and could have more interesting camera angles than Seattle video.

The keyboard player in the projection screen in that Herb Arndt image appears to have short, straight hair with no visible part. During the Pontiac show, JPJ's hair was shoulder-length and kind of puffy. It also curled out where it reached his shoulders when he was seated, and it was parted in the middle:

Being that I know the person who was in contact with Herb, I can confirm that photo of the screen (and the other photos he took) is 100% genuine. The overhead angle and fuzzy nature of the slide would explain Jonesy’s hair looking different.

Fair enough. Thanks for the info.

That screen shot looks like it came from either a booth in club level, or the seats in front of the booths.  The only hint of that actually being from the '77 Zeppelin show are the two spotlights shining up to the roof, which would indicate the special effects shown during "No Quarter" (which really didn't work in the Silverdome, as they shined on the beveled white inflated roof).

If it's actually from the Zeppelin show, what's the conspiracy of hiding it?  It's a fuzzy fan pic comparable to a fleeing Bigfoot in the woods.  It's not like someone is going to pay to put that on their wall.

Something about the crowd doesn't look right to me.  Maybe that pic is actually from the Jethro Tull Show in July of '76.  That's Martin Barre playing a solo at the edge of the stage and his pic on the screen.  Hey, it's a shot in the dark, just like the pic.

We were mainly waiting for proper scans to share these, that is why they haven’t been released publicly.

Yeah, I need to do that, it's been awhile.  However, these are Instamatic 126 photos to begin with.  I really need to look for the negatives, too.

We would be more than happy to help with the original photos and/or negatives and give them similar treatment to these b&w shots if you're able to find them!

The concert was shot on video by a professional crew. Whether it was intended to be used solely for the video screens - who knows. There are camera operators in some photos that clearly show gear borrowed from Opryland’s Video Production unit. The screens were active throughout the entire concert.
