U2, Pearl Jam Films Coming To TIFF

By CHARTattack Staff (CHARTattack) July 26, 2011 12:39 pm

Rock fans will have plenty to get excited about at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, which will feature documentaries about U2 and Pearl Jam.

From The Sky Down, a David Guggenheim-directed (An Inconvenient Truth, It Might Get Loud) film about U2, will open TIFF on Sept. 8, marking the first time a documentary has done so.

Meanwhile, director Cameron Crowe's (Almost Famous, Fast Times At Ridgemont High) long-awaited flick about Pearl Jam's career, Pearl Jam Twenty, will have its world premiere at TIFF. That's only appropriate because Pearl Jam will be in Toronto to play a show at the Air Canada Centre at the same time as the festival. That can only mean one thing: They'll probably be at the premiere. Duh.

As for movie stars you'll be able to catch brief glimpses of, George Clooney and Brad Pitt are both slated to be in town promoting their new films. Clooney's The Ides Of March and Pitt's Moneyball are both screening. Madonna will also be at TIFF for a screening of W.E., if any of you care.

TIFF runs Sept. 8 to 18.
