New song by JBT, from their upcoming new disc titled 'Flesh & Blood' coming out next year. Interesting video....

Any other fans of John Butler here? The trio has a new drummer, with Nicky Bomba leaving to continue his musical aspirations.

After the storm in the northeast here, was working at my brothers house for a few weeks and he is a fan of this band. He was playing john butler trio, jack johnson, kings of leon and the red hot chili peppers. I liked the band, they are obviously very good…but after buying a few rusted root cds in the 90s, i wasn't inclined to burn my bros cds of this band, not feeling the need for more acoustic jam band stuff at this time. With rusted root, john butler trio and or, jack johnson…i like the music very much, just not running out to buy their records.

Yet its strange with the music industry though, because the singer of spearhead, michael franti followed the jack johnson theme and wrote some very popular acoustic songs, which i guess are selling a lot and getting a lot of radio attention.

If you ever get a chance to see JBT live, do it! He (they) really doesn't fit in the same category as Rusted Root, Johnson, or any of the others you mentioned. Glad you were able to check them out at your bros. place though. What discs did he play for you? Outside of Oz, they are still pretty unknown. They are doing a 3 week tour of the states in Feb. for the release of the new disc, then Europe in May.

He has sunrise at sea, a dvd and an acoustic ep, which he reminded me, he had burned for me. He told me to listen to the track, zebra and that refreshed my memory. I am getting a jam band vibe and still thinking rusted root, as a comparative band. Which is a good thing, I'm a fan of jam bands, but they do take time to appreciate and you have to go to shows to truly appreciate.

Very true. Grand National is a better disc, overall, I believe. Sunrise is a good disc, I just don't like the production of it. What You Want is probably my favorite song - but the studio version is nothing compared to live. Thanks for replying and if you live in the northeast/central US or Canada they will be around in February, I think the play southern California at the end of February. Strider, I think you'd love JBT live.

I got a chance to listen to more material, the song, ocean, has 18 million views on youtube. This guy certainly is a great guitarist, he seems like the type of artist that's so talented as a musician, that he is trying to strike a balance in the music industry. Keller Williams seems like a similar type of super talented musician.

He has got some good accessible stuff, Kimberly, revolution, fool for you and a few others.

JBT are scheduled to be the musical guest on Conan this Monday, February 24. Can't wait!

They have a song on their new disc called "Blame It On Me", it is AMAZING! A combination of Hendrix meets Bob Marley meets Zep. Great heavy groove. I'll post it when I find a good version.

:peace:

Nice article in The Wall Street Journal on JBT's new single/video "How You Sleep at Night".

Just announcing U.S. Tour plans for this fall, mainly in the southeast. I know they are finally coming down to Orlando for the first time! :)

Grand National (2007) is probably as good as any place to start. Here is a cut from that disc called Used To Get High:

The trio changes from time to time. These two are no longer with John. He is an amazing guitarist to see live!

Enjoy!

JBT are about to begin their US Fall Tour next week - here are the dates in very intimate venues. If you are near one of the locations, I highly recommend everyone to check them out. Tickets are usually inexpensive, around $30. Great vibe and John Butler is an amazing guitarist. His studio tracks do justice to seeing them live!
