BlackDog71
I've just never been a fan of the song. Probably never will be. I guess that's all I have to say about the song.

SummrMoon
I'm a little embarrassed to say that I used to just end the record before Hats Off came on. I really didn't understand what they were trying to do, I suppose. Now, I love it.
dazedcat
Same the 3rd album made me OBSESSED with them It was a great album without a doubt. In my humble opinion maybe their best and most unique out of all their LP's.
ZoSo1960
I really love this song. It is a very well done cover of Bukka White's "Shake 'em on Down" Edited August 19, 2011 by ZoSo1960
Zeppelin Led
I really love this song. It is a very well done cover of Bukka White's "Shak 'em on Down" How can It be a cover of shake em on down when most of the lyrics are from Lone Wolf Blues. Its really just a jam song it isn't a cover exactly its just some blues tunes bashed together with an original Guitar part. If anyone would like to hear page's influence for the Slide parts of HOTRH. Thanks for that piece of the puzzle, my awarenes of the song was that it was taken form Bukka White but it doesn't suprise me that some of the lyrics were from other songs. Yes I always thought it was a jam song revolving around Bukka's Lyrics(Well I've hear that its a hill song that bukka covered)But Then I realized about the others
DAS
Was that a Led Zeppelin song? Then Yes! Every song was brilliant. Every one. EVERY ONE!
paul carruthers
Sorry to say, I've never had much use for this song. It's a little too out there for my liking. I love the rest of III though, just not this particular song. Edited February 16, 2012 by paul carruthers
Kiwi_Zep_Fan87
Yes, I really like this song. Led Zeppelin III is one of my favourite albums by Led Zeppelin. Whenever I listen to Led Zeppelin III and when "Hats Off To Roy Harper" is about to come on, I think "Now for the grand finale!" (no pun intended here!). What I really love about this song is the sound of the slide guitar! IMHO, songs like these go on to prove that the Blues indeed played a major role in influencing the musical direction the band was taking at the time! Glyn
It is one of my top 10 least liked Led Zeppelin songs. Is it a good song? Yes, it's just so different from everything else, and in my opinion does not really fit in with the rest of the songs on LZ III. The one thing I don't like is the stereo separation, when listening on headphones it is very distracting and fatiguing, a mono mix of the song is much better. TashaZoso16
That's probably the one song I cant seem to enjoy. I know its a traditional number, but I'm not feeling it... maybe in some time.
Led Zep Girl
It's very under rated. Great song.
ZeppMan93
Eh, i find it more as a filler song on LZIII, I don't totally dislike it, but I don't totally like it either.
joe (Liverpool)
Roy Harper is their friend, it's a tribute to him, there is nothing wrong with it. The guitar is awesome. A fitting song to a brilliant guitarist/songwriter. Listen to " The Same Old Rock"
Led Zep Girl
Not to mention that Roy Harper himself, is a very gracious man.
